EAST END of LONG ISLAND, NY

New exhibitions of contemporary and historic art can be found this weekend in the Hamptons and on the North Fork. In Riverhead, an artist talk coincides with a group show that opened recently. Here's where to find what's new on the East End.

AMAGANSETT 

ILLE ARTS GALLERY - “Pillow Talk” has an opening reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The group show features work from artists who are married to one another. Exhibiting artists include Marina Adams, Stanley Whitney, Kate Davis, Vincent Longo, Tamara Gonzalez, Chris Martin, Melora Griffis, Tad Wiley, Jill Levine, Steve Keister, Bastienne Schmidt, and Philippe Cheng. BRIDGEHAMPTON

CELADON GALLERY at THE HAMPTON ARCHIVES - “An Autumn Potter’s Market” takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Held rain or shine. Admission is free. The Hampton Archives is located on Route 27 (East of The Monument), Bridgehampton, NY. www.hamptonsclayart.org

EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS 

ASHAWAGH HALL - “Life in the Abstract” has an opening reception on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. Exhibiting are Bob Bachler, Dru Frederick, Barbara Groot, John Haubrich and Fulvio Massi. The two day exhibit is open from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 on Sunday. Ashawagh Hall located at 780 Springs Fireplace Rd, Springs, NY. www.ashawagh-hall.org

GREENPORT

BRECKNOCK HALL - “Maritime Art Show” opened yesterday and remains on view through Oct 28. The gallery is open weekends only from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The juried exhibition is part of The Maritime Heritage of the North Fork Festival. RIVERHEAD

ART SITES GALLERY- Artist Talk: “Inspired by Old China: Gardens and Rocks” by sculptor Robert Oxnam on Saturday at 3 p.m. The presentation arises from the group exhibition “Nature Incorporated,” which includes sculpture by Oxnam. SOUTHOLD

THE SOUTHOLD HISTORICAL SOCIETY - “Determined to Paint: The Art of George W. Hallock” opens Saturday at Cosden Price Gallery in the Reichert Family Center. The show runs through Dec 15. WATERMILL
