Applications to “BE REAL: Art Inspired by Contemporary Time or Place” are now closed.
Winners will be announced and the Online Exhibition at Hamptons Art Hub will go live on
Monday, January 7, 2019.
Hamptons Art Hub's Fall 2018 Art Competition seeks art that is inspired by real experiences that reflect an aspect of what living in our world means right now or art that is inspired by a particular place at a particular moment. Contemporary realism is encouraged but the theme is welcoming to landscape, conceptual art, figuration, portraiture, abstraction, representational and documentary-inspired art and photography.
Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme liberally. The Competition is open to all mediums and genres. Art will be viewed online only. Artists are encouraged (but not required) to provide a Statement about the art submitted; an Artist Statement; or can supply both.
Winner of the Best in Show will have their art exhibited in the Hamptons Art Gallery of MM Fine Art. Cash Prizes will be awarded to the Best in Show ($250); Best Fine Art ($100); and Best Photograph ($100). Winners will also receive a free annual Artists Directory Membership at Hamptons Art Hub that includes Social Media Art Marketing.
MM Fine Art Gallery Directors Peter Marcelle and Catherine McCormick are judging the "BE REAL" Art Competition and will also curate an Online Exhibition presented at HamptonsArtHub.com. MM Fine Art has galleries in Southampton, NY and New York and presents modern and contemporary art and offers art advisory services. Click here for gallery details.
Winners will be announced in late December.
All art submitted to the Art Competition needs to be original work with the artist holding the rights for the work to be published and exhibited online at Hamptons Art Hub.
Art work images should be uploaded as a jpeg or jpg with maximum of 750 pixels across and include captions. Caption information should include Art Title, Artist Name and Medium with Dimensions and Year Made encouraged.
There is no word limitation for statements. We recommend no more than one to three paragraphs describing the art submitted plus an Artist Statement on your art practice or art in general. Statements can be copy and pasted directly into the Text Box.
