GREENPORT, NY-

A public sculpture installation at Peconic Landing almost feels like a secret: the artworks aren't visible while traveling around Greenport and they can only be found after entering into the planned lifecare retirement community. Once you're in, it's easy to wonder if the park like setting is truly for the public. Rest assured that it is (from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.). There's even a brochure available to identify the art and the artists for a self-guided tour of the art.

Through October 31, the 11-sculpture installation is joined by the whimsical exhibition "The Rest is Art: A Celebration of The Bench as an Art Form."  The benches can be clever, unusual or beautiful.

Following is a brief look at some of the benches and sculpture on view. Artists contributing work to "The Rest is Art" are Nico Yektai, Zoran Luka Fred, Steven Zaluski, Geoff Feder, Steven Ceraso and Jeffrey Grippin.

Artists with sculpture on view are Arden Scott, Nova (Mihai Popa), Mike Hansel, Rob Lorenson, Robert Strimban, Jack Potter and Steven Zaluski. Both exhibitions are viewable through October 31, 2013.
