Cindy Sherman will have a retrospective open in Paris this spring, marking the first show in France by the artist in 14 years. On view from April 1 to August 31, 2020, the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris will present two concurrent exhibitions dedicated to the influential artist: "Cindy Sherman: A retrospective (1975 – 2020)" and "Crossing Views," a group show of works from the Fondation's Collection chosen in collaboration with Cindy Sherman.
"Cindy Sherman: A retrospective (1975 – 2020)" will feature over 300 images from a number of important series. Installed across the Fondation's Frank Gehry building, the retrospective will include works from "Untitled Film Stills" (1977-1980); "Rear Screen Projections" (1980-81); "Fashion" (1983-94); "History Portraits" (1988-90); "Disasters" (1986-89); "Headshots" (2000); "Clowns" (2004); "Society Portraits" (2008); "Murals" (2012); "Flappers" (2016-18) plus a new series featuring male figures and couples.
The exhibition was curated in collaboration with Cindy Sherman, according to the Fondation Louis Vuitton. The show spans her entire career but focuses on art made in the early 2010s, according to the foundation. Also included will be photographs that have not been exhibited previously.

"Crossing Views" features selections from the Fondation Louis Vuitton's permanent collection and was curated in collaboration with Sherman. There will be around 60 works on view and includes painting, sculpture, installation, video and photography. The show explores portraiture and artist interpretations, presenting various approaches and media.
The show presents work by 20 international artists. They include Marina Abramovic (1946, Serbia); Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010, United States); Gilbert & George (1942, United Kingdom); Damien Hirst (1965, United Kingdom); Pierre Huyghe (1962, France); Rob Pruitt (1964, United States); Cindy Sherman (1954, United States); Wolfgang Tillmans (1968, Germany); Andy Warhol (1928-1987, United States); Ming Wong (1971, Singapore) and others.
Cindy Sherman's work has been the subject of solo and group shows internationally at museums and galleries. Solo museum exhibitions include the National Portrait Gallery in London (2019); The Broad in Los Angeles (2016) and Museum of Modern Art (2012). Sherman has participated in four Venice Biennales and five editions of the Whitney Biennial along with two Biennales of Sydney and the 1983 Documenta. She is the recipient of the 2020 Wolf Prize in Arts, joining a long list of award and fellowships.
She is represented by Metro Pictures in New York. This May, the gallery will present a solo show of Sherman's work.
In The Hamptons, Cindy Sherman's work was exhibited at the Parrish Art Museum in "Artists Choose Artists" in 2016 and in "Picturing Artists: Permanent Gallery Installation" from November 2015 to October 2016. Her work is part of the permanent collections of both the Parrish Art Museum and Guild Hall. Sherman is based in The Hamptons and New York City.
