‘STARBRIDGES,’ an exhibition of over twenty sculptures by artist Robert Schwarz, is open at the Amagansett Library through November 28th with a reception on Saturday, November 4th from 5 to 7pm.
Noted art historian, lecturer and author Olivier Bernier will introduce Mr. Schwarz at the opening on November 4th and give a talk on his work at 6 p.m.

.
Schwarz’s interest lies in reflections and faux depth. Which level is the surface? What is the reality? His materials include polished metal, monofilament and glass – with LED lights reflecting off of these elements. The reflection moves as the viewer moves and is therefore always changing. Each piece springs from a ‘center,’ but also creates multiple ‘centers’ in the viewing experience.
.
.
He is fascinated by balance and equipoise, creating constructions that are mandalas: designs that represent the search for completeness. He considers the process of making them a meditation. As Schwarz notes, “They present themselves to me as models of titanic spaceships or artifacts found in the depths of space – the unconscious.”
.
.
Mr. Schwarz has exhibited widely on the East End as well as New York City and Chicago. His work is found is private collections in the U.S. as well as Europe. For more information on his work, visit www.ufobobart.com.
