A Roy Lichtenstein panel discussion, a John Alexander conversation, the African-American Film Festival and the launch of the fall season of the Met and its HD Season are a few notable events happening this weekend in The Hamptons. In the gallery scene, art receptions for new exhibitions take place from East Hampton to Sag Harbor and Riverhead. Following is this week's list of art events on the East End.

AMAGANSETT FREE LIBRARY - “Art/History/Amagansett: Beyond the East End: Artist John Alexander in Conversation with Ruth Appelhof” takes place on Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. John Alexander will discuss his artistic process with Executive Director of Guild Hall Ruth Appelhof. CUTCHOGUE - POSTPONED

ALEX FERRONE PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY - “Globetrotting” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through November 15. The show includes photographs taken around the world by Susan Dooley, Ray Germann and Dave Burns. ASHAWAGH HALL - “Contact.” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition is on view on Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 5 daily. GUILD HALL - "Special Reception And Operatif featuring Live Performances" In Celebration of the Fall Met: Live in HD Season at Guild Hall takes place on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Prior to the screening of "The Met: Live in HD – Verdi’s Il Trovatore" will be a celebratory reception and an inside look at composing in the 21st century with Victoria Bond and librettist Barbara Zinn Krieger.  Reception and Presentation tickets are $50 ($25 discounted ticket to GH donors $200+ and Two (2) free tickets for donors $500+).

"The Met: Live in HD - Verdi’s IL TROVATORE" takes place on Saturday at 1 p.m. Admission is $22, $20 for members, $15 for students.

“Panel Discussion: Roy Lichtenstein's Only Filmtakes place on Sunday at 3 p.m. Clare Bell, Exhibition Support Manager/Reference at Roy Lichtenstein Foundation, will moderate a panel on Roy Lichtenstein's film with Joel L. Freedman, Filmmaker/Producer, and Chrissie Iles, Curator, Whitney Museum of American Art. Admission is free.

POSTPONED:  TRIPOLI GALLERY - “Melanie Moczarski: Lingua Franca” has postponed its Opening Reception planned for Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. It will now be held Saturday, October 10. The exhibition remains on view through November 16. On view will be new works incorporating imperfect symmetry, organic lines and a consistent palette executed in acrylic on polyester film. RIVERHEAD

EAST END ARTS - "Winners' Show" has an Opening Reception on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through October 31, 2015. The Group Show features Best in Show artists from 2014 juried East End Arts Gallery shows, including Kate Fox, Anna Jurinich, Stella Kamakaris, Ivan Kustura, Don Perley and Neva Setlow. GRENNING GALLERY - “Summer Works” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through November 15. The show includes new works from Marc Dalessio, Ben Fenske, Edwina Lucas, and Maryann Lucas, John Morfis, Ramiro, and Nelson White as well as a few small works from the estate of James Britton. MONIKA OLKO GALLERY - “Brett Loving, Tara Bach, Malu Tan and Dean Johnson” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The group exhibition will be on view through October 31, 2015. WATER MILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - "Salon Series: Katie Mahan" takes place on Friday at 6 p.m. Steinway pianist Katie Mahan will perform a program entitled Debussy, Gershwin, and the Two Faces of Beethoven. Admission is $20, $10 for members. 

“Guided Tour of the Permanent Collection” takes place on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 3 p.m. The docent-led tour features highlights from the seven permanent collection galleries. Free with museum admission. Reservations suggested.
