The Maritime Festival takes over Greenport Village this weekend and brings a pop up art show and opportunities for artists of all ages to art and have fun. Across the East End, there are plenty of exhibition receptions, poetry reading at a historic art site, film screenings and culture events to fill a weekend. Following is this week's list of where to find art and culture in the Hamptons, on the North Fork and the East End.

BRIDGEHAMPTON

CHASE EDWARDS CONTEMPORARY FINE ART - "Living Color" by J. Steven Manolis has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through October 20. Manolis will show 50 works on canvas and paper. Manolis seeks to impart an emotional response through color combinations and proportions in his paintings. POLLOCK-KRASNER HOUSE AND STUDY CENTER - “Girl With a Pearl Earring” screens on Friday at 7 p.m. as part of the “Artists on Film: Discovery” series at Pollock-Krasner House. The film centers around the servant girl that becomes the subject of Vermeer’s famous painting. VERED GALLERY – Gallery Talk for “Modernist Color: The First 90 Years” takes place on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Led by gallerist Janet Lehr. Exhibition highlights include paintings by John Singer Sargent, Arthur B. Carles, Russell Morgan, John Sloan, Arthur Dove, Milton Avery, Arshile Gorky, Larry Rivers and Helen Frankenthaler. GREENPORT   

THE EAST END SEAPORT MUSEUM & MARINE FOUNDATION - "Little Merfolk" takes place on Saturday at noon at Mitchell Park. The event includes a mermaid/merman costume contest. Contestants can march in the opening day Maritime Festival parade. Artists and contestants are invited to register at www.eastendseaport.com.  The event is presented in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Greenport Maritime Festival. BRECKNOCK HALL - “Meet the Authors: A World Unto Itselftakes place on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. The books explores the history of Plum Island, NY. The book will be available for purchase and signing. GREENPORT HARBOR BREWING COMPANY - “The 25th Annual Greenport Maritime Festival” takes place from Friday through Sunday. On view will be a Pop Up art event titled “MARITIME MADNESS” featuring artists Wendy Small and Cindy Pease Roe. The exhibition remains on view through the end of October. ART SITES GALLERY - “Out of Time” by Andrea Cote and Pierre Cote has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. A performance will take place at 6 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through October 26. Andrea Cote will show a new series of photographs using collaged segments of photos and negatives created in 1998. WILLIAM MERITT CHASE ESTATE - “2014 Annual Hamptons Poetry Reading” takes place on Saturday at sunset, around 7 p.m. Admission is free. The featured reader is artist Molly Weiss. Poets Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan and Amy Cammel will also read, along with other surprise readers. Claude Mayers will host the event. SOUTHOLD HISTORICAL SOCIETY - “North Fork in Color” by the North Fork artists group “Cloud 9” has an Opening Reception on Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Southold Historical Society’s Reichert Family Center’s Cosden-Price Gallery. The exhibition remains on view through September 28. The group is known for their landscape and seascape works. The group includes local artists Adelaide Amend, B. L. WATER MILL

“Pechakucha Night Hamptons: Vol. 9” takes place on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Parrish Art Museum. Pechakucha Night is an evening of lightning-fast presentations by local artists, writers, musicians, gardeners, farmers, baymen, winemakers, chefs, designers, architects, and more. Admission is $10, free for members, children, and students. WATERMILL CENTER - “Open Studio: Entang Wiharso” takes place on Saturday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. During the open studio, the sculpture, installation and video artist will share a new installation made of aluminum, graphite and yarn.
