Exhibition Featuring  Divergent Artistic Interpretations of Nature by Leading Long Island Artists to be held at Ashawagh Hall

'MOTHER NATURE AS MUSE"

July 26 - 28, 2013

Opening Reception on Saturday, July 28, from 5 to 8 p.m.

 

Eleven leading Long Island artists will exhibit work inspired by natural elements of the environment. Drawing inspiration from earth, sea and sky, these artists have produced unique pieces that reflect their individual sensibilities, resulting in an extraordinary collection of paintings, collages, sculptures and fiber art.

“MOTHER NATURE AS MUSE” will features a diverse range of art, representing the best of the East End. the show is curated by Mary Laspia.  Exhibiting artists are Barbara Groot, Vincent Brandi, Mary Milne, Pamela Topham, Bill Shillalies, Bobbie Braun, Joan Kraisky, Mary Laspia, Anita Kusick and Christine Chew Smith and Anne Holton

Abstract works will be provided by such notables as Barbara Groot and Vincent Brandi.

Mary Milne’s unique creations in colored glass are informed by the shoreline and wetlands near her home, as are Pamela Topham’s textural silk and linen tapestries. Sculptor and ceramic artist Bill Shillalies will present dynamic organic forms.

Figurative and impressionistic landscapes will also be shown, painted by both established and emerging artists including Bobbie Braun, Joan Kraisky, Mary Laspia, Anita Kusick and Christine Chew Smith. The wildlife paintings of Anne Holton will connect the viewer with the animal world.

Curated by Mary Laspia, “MOTHER NATURE AS MUSE” brings together a diverse body of art, representing the best of the East End. The exhibition takes place on Friday, July 26 (1 - 7 pm), Saturday, July 27 (9 am - 8 pm) and Sunday, July 28 (11 am - 4 pm). An OPENING RECEPTION will be held on Saturday, July 27, from 5 to 8 pm.

Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs Fireplace Road, East Hampton, at the corner of Fireplace Road and Old Stone Highway.

  1. Mother nature is my muse! This year a photo of mine is in the East End Arts taking palce now through March 7th 2014 at the East End Arts Gallery on Main Street in Riverhead.. The reception was quite enjoyable, meeting other artists and other visitors to the show.
