It's a winning combination when artists and non-profits team up to help those in need. Artists from the Hamptons and beyond became part of the solution when applying to take part in The Retreat's 4th Annual "Hamptons Juried Art Show."

The exhibition featuring artists selected for the juried show has an opening reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Richard J. Demato Fine Arts Gallery in Sag Harbor, NY. "Hamptons Juried Art Show" remains on view through Nov 8, 2012.

"Lunar Landscape" by Christina Stow. Photograph, 28 x 8 inches.

.

Over 300 artists applied to be part of the exhibition, according to The Retreat. The top 25 were selected for inclusion.

Artists paid an entry fee for a chance to have their artwork accepted into the juried exhibition. The entire entry fee (100%) benefits women and children who are victims of domestic violence.  Half of all art sales benefits The Retreat with the other half going to the artist. All donations made during the exhibition go directly to The Retreat.

"Dark Sky" by Stephanie Reit, 2012. Oil on canvas, 24 x 30 inches.

The Retreat is the only non-profit domestic violence agency serving the East End of Long Island. Over 300 artists applied to be part of the show, according to organization.

"We are so grateful for the overwhelming support from the artist community," said Jeffrey Friedman, Executive Director of The Retreat. "With demand for our services rising to unprecedented levels, the additional funds raised will enable us to reach and serve more abused victims and traumatized children than we otherwise could."

This year's jurors are Kathryn Markel of Kathryn Markel Fine Arts (Bridgehampton, NY and Chelsea, NY) and Christina Mossaides Strassfield, the Museum Director and Chief Curator of Guild Hall Museum in East Hampton, NY.

He sums it up this way: "The Retreat is where "VIOLENCE ENDS AND HOPE BEGINS."

Services provided by The Retreat include a 24-hour hotline (631-329-2200) plus individual and group counseling, legal advocacy, assistance to crime victims, educational programs, residential services and a self-sufficiency training program called Hope Heals.
