“A Sense of Place: Selections from the Permanent Collection”

"A Sense of Place: Selections from the Permanent Collection" opens on October 24 and remains on view through January 3, 2016. An Opening Reception will be held on Oct. 24 from 4 to 6 p.m.

A Sense of Place presents 62 works that have been inspired by the uniquely inherent topography of the East End of Long Island. Spanning the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, the exhibition features 39 artists working in a variety of mediums including painting, pastel, lithograph, etching, gouache, photography, watercolor and mixed media.

The artists include Kathryn Abbe, Mary Abbott and Barbara Guest, Joan Baren, William Verplanck, Francesco Bologna, Priscilla Bowden, James Brooks, Dan Budnik, Giraud Chester, Dan Flavin, Robert Dash, Elaine de Kooning, Zella de Milhau, Bill Durham, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Terry Elkins, Elliot Erwitt, John M. Falconer, Rae Ferren, Balcomb Greene, Theodore Hancock, Childe Hassam, Jay Hoops, John Howard Jewett, Marcia Gygli King, Condie Lamb, Margaret Lamb, Julian Levi, Susanne Yardley Mason, Mary Nimmo Moran, Thomas Moran, Henry Nadler, Nan Orshefsky, Darragh Park, John Register, Anne Sager, Racelle Strick, Ty Stroudsburg, Warren Whipple, and William J. Whittemore.
