"Downtown Abbey Style in Southampton: 1900 to 1920" documents the fashions, activities and lifestyle of this community between 1900 and 1920 that changed Southampton forever. This timeframe unfolds within Southampton’s Gilded Age, which began in 1880 and ended in 1929, and seems to mirror the television historical drama “Downton Abbey.”
The exhibition includes items from the museum's large collection of women’s gowns. They were donated by Southampton’s Summer Colony residents who were also members of high society in New York City.
