Art Basel Miami Beach is the centerpiece of Miami Art Week but Art Miami can be considered king of the satellite art fairs that hold court to international art during the first week of December. Crowds lined patiently each day to gain entrance to the Art Miami's white tent and signature blue print. Celebs, art world stars, collectors and those interested in art (or in being part of the scene) could all be found inside.
Aisle after aisle, the artwork didn't disappoint. Sculpture and installation were strong and so were mixed media works. Photography and painting were represented throughout the fair with a smattering of drawing tucked inside gallery booths.
Greeting visitors upon entering were two dramatic works: Accumulation of Disorder by Lionel Smit and the artwork with the longest title ever: I Have a Feeling I Shall Go Mad. I Cannot Go On Longer in These Terrible Times. I Shan't Recover This Time. I Hear Voices and Cannot Concentrate on My Work. I Have Fought Against It But Cannot Fight Any Longer... Naww, Fuck It, I'm Good. by Cameron Gray. (See separate story.)
