Larry Rivers Foundation's mission is to advance, serve, solidify and share the creative legacy of Larry Rivers. In our efforts to honor the artist’s versatility, his independent spirit, and experience as an educator, we understand our mission to include and support all endeavors designed to expand the analysis of his contributions.
The foundation estimates that Larry Rivers (1923-2002) made over 3,500 original works of art, according to its website. The foundation is in the process of documenting and assigning reference numbers to as many works as possible using its Art Systems supported data base.
Rivers was an accomplished Jazz musician, a painter, sculptor, poet, actor, television personality, filmmaker, an MC at nightclubs, a popular personality on the lecture circuit, author and teacher. Rivers is most often recognized as a key founding fathers of Pop Art.
