Southampton Cultural Center’s "Rising Stars Piano Series" presents Pianofest Distinguished Artist and pianist extraordinaire Soyeon Kate Lee on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 6 p.m. The concert kicks off the fall "Rising Stars Piano Series" which will present intimate performances monthly through November.

Korean-American pianist Soyeon Kate Lee, a First prize winner of the 2010 Naumburg International Piano Competition and the 2004 Concert Artist Guild International Competition, has been lauded by the New York Times as a pianist with "a huge, richly varied sound, a lively imagination and a firm sense of style." The Washington Post praised the pianist for her "stunning command of the keyboard.”

Lee, a returning Pianofest Pianist Extraordinaire is opening the 2019/2020 season of Southampton Cultural Center's "Rising Stars Piano Series." She will perform works by Debussy, Chopin and Granados.

The series continues with Robin Giesbrecht on September 28, 2019 and Kara Huber on November 9, 2019 at the Southampton Cultural Center (SCC).

The "Rising Stars Piano Series" was founded in 2003 by SCC board member and pianist Liliane Questel, a graduate of the Brussels Conservatory and the Baltimore's Peabody Conservatory under the guidance of Leon Fleisher. The series's mission focuses on providing performance opportunities primarily for participants and alumni of Pianofest of the Hamptons.

These highly talented pianists attract a loyal following. The Tenth Anniversary Season in 2013 celebrated some of those musicians who by then were not “Rising Stars” anymore but celebrated performers.

The "Rising Stars Piano Series" is made possible by pianists and SCC board members Liliane Questel,
Founding Director of the "Rising Stars Piano Series," and Konstantin Soukhovetski, "Rising Stars Piano Series" Managing Director.
