Labor Day Weekend is here! The weather promises to cooperate and creates amble time to divide between beaches, outdoor parties and things to do with in the cultural realm. Making our list of the best things to do this holiday weekend are live music, art talks, comedy, cocktail parties and more. All events take place through Monday, September 2, 2019. 1.  Helen Frankenthaler's Life and Work Examined

The Parrish Art Museum is hosting "Voices from the Artist's Archives," a talk on Helen Frankenthaler's life and work, with speaker Avis Berman on Thursday, August 29, 2019, from 5 to 6 p.m.

Avis Berman is a writer, curator and historian of American art, architecture and culture. Curator of the 2014 exhibition "William Glackens" at the Parrish, Berman has written about art, architecture, and the social history of the visual arts for publications and authored biographies on Edward Hopper, Roy Lichtenstein and James Abbott McNeill Whistler.

2.  Mames Babegenush in Concert at Guild Hall

Guild Hall is hosting the Danish band Mames Babegenush on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at 8 p.m. 

This six-piece ensemble features strong Scandinavian roots that merge with the vibrant dance music of Eastern Europe. The group has won several awards, including the Danish Music Award for Best World Album of The Year, and has performed at venues and festivals such as Carnegie Hall and the Chicago World Music Festival.

3.  Comedian in the House - Christopher Titus

Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center presents comedian Christopher Titus on Friday, August 30, 2019, at 8 p.m.

The longtime veteran of HBO, Comedy Central, and Fox Broadcasting is a champion of “hard funny” for two solid decades and is currently touring his seventh comedic show, “Amerigeddon.” His take no prisoners sensibility and provocative storytelling will leave audiences laughing (and thinking) long after the show is over.

4.  Book Signing & Cocktail Party - "Waves: Pro Surfers and Their World"

Sylvester & Co. Modern General hosts a book signing and cocktail party with Thom Gilbert to celebrate his book "Waves: Pro Surfers and Their World" on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. Sylvester & Co. is located at 103 Main Street, Sag Harbor, NY 11963. www.sylvesterandco.com

5.  Late Summer Cocktail Party

Southampton History Museum hosts its annual Late Summer Cocktail Party on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Celebrate the end of summer on the lawn of the Gilded Age Rogers Mansion with hors d'oeuvres, open bar and dancing to a DJ. The party honors the Southampton Association with proceeds benefiting the historical museum's education programs. Festive attire encouraged.

Tickets are $65 in advance or $80 on August 31. Tickets for those ages 21 to 35 years old are $35 in advance and $45 the day of the event. To register, click here. 6.  Live Folk, Rock and Blues Music at Guild Hall

Guild Hall is hosting a performance by blues artist Jenni Muldaur and other musicians on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at 8 p.m.

Jenni Muldaur is a singer, songwriter, vocal arranger and producer and has worked with artists such as David Byrne, Elvis Costello, Marianne Faithfull, Lou Reed, Todd Rundgren and Rufus Wainwright. Performing alongside her at Guild Hall are Rufus Wainwright, Teddy Thompson, and New Yorker Humorists Roz Chast and Patty Marx’s Ukelear Meltdown.

UPCOMING

A Tumbleweed Tuesday Party and Charity Auction for the Sag Harbor Cinema will take place throughout Sag Harbor Village on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

Events include an eBay for Charity auction of 60 works of art by artists such as Ross Bleckner, Eric Fischl and Cindy Sherman, as well as experiences like restaurant dinners, private yoga classes and Broadway shows. A party at Page at 63 Main will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. where silent auction items will be available.

From 2 to 8 p.m. art will be previewed at Grenning Gallery, Keyes Gallery, Sara Nightingale Gallery and Tulla Booth Gallery, all located along Main Street. Sylvester & Co. will present Don Lenzer's SAG NOIR photographic portfolio, with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Merchants on Main Street will remain open later than usual for the event.
