Nathan Slate Joseph, a New York based artist has been an integral member of the New York art scene for more than 50 years. Joseph blurs the boundaries between painting and sculpture. Finding himself residing in Sag Harbor, “BOATYARDS” is the artist’s journey back to his past - the ocean and boats reminiscent of his childhood on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea.

Using a unique process he developed while living in Mexico, Joseph collects chosen, found material and oxidizes it with natural pigment, exposing it to the elements to produce rich saturated color and varied textures. “BOATYARDS” advances Joseph’s journey into modern abstraction and offers a re-imagination of the forms he grew to know.
