Solo shows dominate new gallery exhibitions opening this weekend on the East End. Also expect to find an art benefit featuring local artists from both the South and North Forks. All take place through April 28, 2019 in The Hamptons and on The North Fork.

SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER - "OLA of Eastern Long Island's Benefit Art Show: "ROOTS" has an Opening Reception on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
Proceeds from the art sale benefit OLA of Eastern Long Island (Organizacion Latino Americana) and feature art by over 65 artists. Art is curated by Amy Worth and Hector deCordova. The exhibition is on view through May 5, 2019 on Saturdays, noon to 8 p.m. and on Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. and by appointment by calling 631-871-3408.
Exhibiting artists include Janet Culbertson, Phyllis Chillingworth, Darlene Charneco and others.

WILLIAM RIS GALLERY - "DREAM OF ROSES (RÊVE DE ROSES), a photographic collection of roses by Takashi Matsuzaki, has an Opening Reception on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. The exhibition continues on view through May 19, 2019. The solo show is the debut of Matsuzaki at William Ris Gallery and is the first time the gallery has presented an exclusive exhibition of photographed flowers.
“Takashi’s work is sensual, vivid, and captures the texture, color and contrasting structure of the rose,” Mary Cantone, owner-curator of William Ris Gallery, explained. “The imagery is both powerful and yet fragile at the same time, and it’s this dichotomy that appeals to me.” Indeed, the images captured by Matsuzaki are unlike stock photos one often sees of roses, giving an intimate, moody, at times avant garde, and multi-dimensional view of this oft photographed flower.

MM Fine Art - "Moments/Stories, Paintings by Peter Beston" has an Opening Reception on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. The solo show presents the artist's newest work including The Art of Conflict, which explores the relationship between human conflict and art. The show continues on view through May 19, 2019.
