The Drawing Room picks up and moves to a new location in East Hampton with the first exhibition (and reception) opening this weekend. RJD GALLERY - "We Believe" has an Opening Reception on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition is an juried show benefiting The Retreat featuring artists who were selected from an Open Call. Proceeds from the show benefits The Retreat, which provides services for victims of domestic violence and other services. ASHAWAGH HALL - "Art Groove" has an Opening Reception on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 6 to 11 p.m. with live music by The King Bees and a dance party featuring DJ G-Funk's hot dance mix. The group show includes art by Phyllis Hammond, Michael Cardacino, Sarah Jaffee Turnbull and others. On view April 13 and 14, 2019 only.
The weekend only show has an Afternoon Tea Dance and Special Art Show on Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 3 to 6 p.m. with additional artists and artworks. Sales benefit the Ellen Hermanson Foundation. Roman Fine Art - "F#CKBOYS" has an Opening Reception on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition is a solo show of erotic portrait paintings by Alexandria Lira where all her subjects were discovered on Tinder. VSOP PROJECTS - "On the Grid" has an Opening Reception on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. The group show features work by artists who make use of the grid and divided space as integral to their work. Exhibiting artists include Darlene Charneco, Bastienne Schmidt, Christine Sciulli, Mike Solomon, Drew Shiftlett and others. The show is organized and curated by Scott Bluedorn. SUFFOLK COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY - "When Women Wore Whales: The Story of How Whalebones Shaped 19th Century Fashion" has an Opening Reception on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the Weathervane Gallery. The show continues on view through December 21, 2019.
The exhibition presents 19th century photographs, fashion magazine plates, dresses, parasols, corsets, whaling tools and more to reflect the changes in fashion from 1820 to 1920 and the impact the whaling industry had on 19th century fashion.
