“Musicals have always been a great part of my directing career,” Michael Disher explained. “And if I am to be totally honest, it is because I know wholeheartedly of the effect that lights, music and dance have upon audiences.  There is a palpable energy that infuses a darkened room. And in that darkness, moods are elevated and altered – and all for the better.”

“Mama Mia” provides the perfect setting for ABBA songs to spring to life in a light-hearted production that’s celebrated for its music and spectacle. Department from Disher’s typical preference for story-driven theater, “Mama Mia” has proven to be an experience where entertainment value rules the stage.

“My approach to Mamma Mia! has not been to tell a story, make a point or step upon a soapbox.,” Disher continued. “No, it has simply been to entertain you, our audience, for a couple of hours void of any politics, nightly news, calamity or injustice. And sometimes that’s enough.”
