SOUTHAMPTON

Southampton Historical Museum Gallery - "Morris Studio: The Unseen Collection: Photographs of Southampton 1892-1940" has an Opening Reception on Saturday, March 3, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. to celebrate a reinstallation of the exhibition. Presented in the Rogers Mansion, the show presents around 70 historic photos of East End life as witnessed through the eyes of professional photographer George W. Morris, who opened his photography store (Morris Studio) on Southampton's Main Street in 1892.

After the shop closed in 2017, over 10,000 glass plate negatives were discovered in the basement that capture over 100 years of local history. This is the second presentation of a selection of images made from the glass plate negatives. The show continues on view through August 3, 2019. Rogers Mansion is located at 17 Meeting House Lane, Southampton, NY 11968. www.southamptonhistory.org.
