This weekend brings film screening galore, theater and the launch of a healthy series to calm your mind. It's also a vibrant weekend for art gallery receptions on both the North Fork and South Fork. 1.  Film & Talk on Basquiat

Parrish Art Museum teams up with Hamptons Doc Fest to screen "American Masters--Basquiat: Rage to Riches" on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 6 p.m. followed by a talk with photographer Michael Halsband and Parrish Art Museum Senior Curator Corinne Erni.

The documentary features exclusive interviews with his sisters, art dealers Larry Gagosian, Mary Boone and Bruno Bischofberger plus friends, lovers and fellow artists. The fil is a BBC Studios Production for PBS and BBC in association with THIRTEEN Productions LLC. (NR, 2017, 90 minutes, director and producer is David Shulman).

2.  Film Screening featuring Laurel & Hardy

Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center hosts multiple screenings of "Stan and Ollie" from Friday, February 22, 2019 through Sunday, February 24, 2019.

A Golden Globe Award Nominee, "Stan and Ollie" features Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly as the iconic comedy team as they set out on a variety hall tour of Britain in 1953. Diminished by age with King of Hollywood crowns a memory, the pair re-connect with their fans while trying to rediscover each other. (PG, English, 97 minutes, directed by Jon S. Baird).

3.  Sound Meditation Series 

Southampton Arts Center launches a new series of Immersive Sound Meditation on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.

Experience the soothing tones of Sound Meditation as offered by Bowl Master and Meditation DJ Daniel Lauter. Making use of a diverse array of instruments, sounds may be generated by crystal bowls and gongs, Tibetan and Himalayan bells, rain sticks, Ocarina, ambient soprano saxophone and more. All levels are welcome. Bring own mat and/or blanket.

4.  Performance: JDT Lab Presents "Waiting for Nothing"

JDT Lab at Guild Hall presents a black box reading of "Waiting for Nothing" by LaWanda Hopkins and Elijah Coleman on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 3 p.m.

"Waiting for Nothing" tells the tale of two college Freshman who meet through social media and forge a remarkable bond leading to a pinnacle moment where the decision to mask or reveal true identities with the future of love hanging in the balance.
