January 2019 welcomes the first show at Keyes Art's new location in Sag Harbor as well as the first show offered by the Artists Alliance of East Hampton at Ashawagh Hall. MM Fine Art in Southampton also opens 2019 with a new group show of artist faculty members at Ross School. KEYES ART - "BLUE CHIP LOCAL" hosts an Opening Reception and Birthday Part for Nathan Slate Joseph on January 4, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m at its new location in Sag Harbor, NY as neighbors to the American Hotel.

"BLUE CHIP LOCAL" presents art by de Kooning, Rivers, Joseph, Chamberlain, Covert, Claps and Abbott. The exhibition opens on January 4 and remains on view through March 14, 2019. Keyes Art is located at 53 Main Street, Sag Harbor, NY 11963. www.juliekeyesart.com.

CUTCHOGUE

ALEX FERRONE GALLERY - Breakfast with a "Juror's Walk Through and Artist Talk" takes place on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. On view in the gallery is "Small Bites," a juried photography show selected from an Open Call for images about food. The judge is commercial photographer Jim Lennon. Over 52 photographs were selected--all 12 x 12 inches. The Artist Talk features exhibiting photographer Mike McLaughlin who has a solo show of architectural works on view in the Project Space.

ARTISTS ALLIANCE OF EAST HAMPTON at ASHAWAGH HALL - "Walls of Dreams" has an Opening Reception on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. The group show features art by members of the Artists Alliance of East Hampton (AAEH).  Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs Fireplace Road, East Hampton, NY 11937. www.aaeh.org.

JANET LEHR FINE ART - "I Have a Dream - Magnificent Landscapes" has an Opening Reception to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. At the Reception, political journalist Maxine Dovere, who just returned form Israel and Sweden, will speak briefly about the challenges of the 2019 election cycle and rising Anti-Semitism in Europe.

The group art in various genres that were all inspired by the landscape by modern and contemporary artists. The show includes art by Milton Avery, Robert Dash, Balcolm Greene, Jules Olitski, Haim Mizrahi, Adam Handler, Colin Christian, Adam Umbach and others.

ARTISTS ALLIANCE OF EAST HAMPTON at ASHAWAGH HALL -  "Walls of Dreams Community Activity & Breakfast" takes place on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The group show features art by members of the Artists Alliance of East Hampton (AAEH). The community is invited to write their dreams on a card which will be added to The Wall of Dreams as part of the exhibition. HALSEY MCKAY GALLERY - "ELIAS HANSEN - GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT" and "CHRIS DUNCAN - WITHOUT THE SUN I FALL SILENT " have a shared Opening Reception on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. For Duncan's fourth solo show with the gallery, he pairs masks with sewn works to pose questions about time and its effects. For the first solo show with Halsey Mckay, Hansen presents art that channels the simplicity of mediating on a simple object that glows with light to encourage viewers to reflect on their own personal relationships with the quality of being light.
