Thanksgiving Weekend brings an infusion of life into the East End gallery scene with events and opening receptions taking place across the East End. PRIVE COLLECTIVE & ATELIER- "Forbidden Fruit: A Taboo Art Exhibition" hosts a pop up group show at 136 Main Street in Southampton Village on Saturday and Sunday, November 24 - 25, 2018. An Opening Reception takes place on Saturday, from 6 to 9 p.m. with the art continuing on view on Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. The pop up exhibition presents art by seven contemporary artists based in New York.
The show is curated by Alexandria Lira and offers art that explores what is considered taboo by society. The art springs from places the artists have traveled and what feels taboo, whether it's a love affair, thoughts or what may feel venomous or forbidden but possessing a taste of beauty.
Exhibiting work are Sadia Fakih, Elizabeth London, Anastasia Samodina, Courtney Bae, Kenna Kindig, Yikui Gu, Alexandria Lira and Evan Lagache.
EASTERN LONG ISLAND - BELLPORT
MARQUEE PROJECTS - "Trunk Show with Elisabetta Bellu" will take place on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Trunk Show will Elisabetta Bullu Demi-Couture Collections that embrace Italian luxury and marry European design with American sensibility. The collection is handcrafted in Bellport, NY on Long Island. The designer will be on hand. Prosecco, coffee, homemade chai and treats will be served. On view in the gallery is "Fukuko Harris: Colored Air."
