This weekend is especially vibrant with things to do on the East End with an art and culture twist. In The Hamptons, there are two theater productions, a design lecture, a film screening and an art lecture. On the North Fork, expect to find a talk on historic art and the annual Greenport Gallery Walk which brings extra fun to walking around Greenport Village on a Friday night. 1. Performance: "The Red Badge of Courage" at Southampton Cultural Center
October 19 to November 4, 2018
Stephen Crane's classic Civil War novel "The Red Badge of Courage" comes to the stage at the Southampton Cultural Center, co-presented by the boots on the ground theater company. The final weekend of performances takes place through November 4, 2018 on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. On November 4, 2018, a special free encore performance for veterans and their families will be presented at 6 p.m.
The Red Badge of Courage centers on Henry Fleming, a young Union soldier who battles his inner demons as he runs from and eventually faces his greatest fears. Historical accuracy is a high priority for producer Bonnie Grice and costumes and props have been sourced to stay true to the period. An exhibition of Civil War memorabilia will be on display in the Cultural Center’s gallery, curated by Stephen Gould in collaboration with the Southampton Historical Museum.
General Admission is $25 and $12 for students under 21 years old with ID. Dinner and theater packages with the Plaza Cafe are $69. For the special free encore performance on November 4, 2018, veterans are required to reserve tickets in advance by emailing Kirsten Lonnie at [email protected].

2. Performance: "A Comedy of Tenors" by Hampton Theatre Company in Quogue
October 25 – November 11, 2018
Hamptons Theatre Company opens its 2018-19 Season with "A Comedy of Tenors" by Ken Ludwig’s “A Comedy of Tenors.” Performances are held at the Quogue Community Hall head into their second week and are performed through November 10, 2018. Performances are held Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m.; Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Dinner packages are available and an extra matinée will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. prior to the 8 p.m. performance.
Featuring several characters from his Tony Award-winning “Lend Me a Tenor,” “A Comedy of Tenors” is set in a hotel suite in 1930s Paris and follows the fortunes of four tenors, two wives and three girlfriends as they struggle hilariously with outsize egos, mistaken identities, bedroom hijinks and madcap antics in preparation for a concert at a soccer stadium filled with impatient screaming fans.

3. November Greenport Gallery Walk
The Greenport Gallery Walk will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Eight galleries located in the historic maritime village along Greenport Harbor in Peconic Bay will participate in this month's Gallery Walk. In addition to galleries, many village shops will stay open late. If you're looking for art, it can be found at The Sirens’ Song Gallery, Nova Constellatio Gallery, Gallery M, The South Street Gallery, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company Gallery, Olive Studio, North Fork Art Collective and VSOP Art + Design Projects.

4. Art Lecture with Gail Levin, Ph.D. at Guild Hall
Syd Solomon gets an examined look by Gail Levin, Ph.D. at Guild Hall on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at noon on the occasion of his solo show "Syd Solomon: Concealed and Revealed." The Lecture takes place in the Boots Lamb Education Center. Admission is free. Reservations are requested and can be made by clicking here. 5. Peconic Bay Impressionists Author & Gallerist Talk
A Peconic Bay Impressionist Talk and Vintage Long Island Art Show Opening Reception takes place at Old Orchard Farm Store on Saturday, November 3, 2018, with the Talk held from 3 to 4 p.m. and the Opening Reception from 4 to 6 p.m. The Vintage Long Island Art Show continues on view through December 3, 2018. The Talk features gallerist and author Terry Wallace discussing North Fork Impressionism; RSVP is required, as limited availability remains, by emailing [email protected]. 6. Lecture & Sale on Shibori Fashion in Japan, Germany & Beyond
LongHouse Reserve presents a Lecture on "Shibori Fashion in Japan, Germany and Beyond" by Slow Fiber Studio founder Yoshiko Wada and Shibori Master Hiroshi Murase on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Following the lecture, Suzusan Shibori fashions on luxury fibers will be available for sale. Shibori is a the Japanese technique of resist dyeing which produces patterns on fabric. The cost for the Lecture is $20 for LongHouse Members and $40 for non-members. Click here to reserve. 7. "Colette" Screens at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center
Starring Keira Knightley and Dominic West, "Colette" screens at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, November 3, at 4 and 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 4 p.m.
Directed By Wash Westmoreland, "Colette" (Rated R, English, 111 minutes) follows Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (Keira Knightley) after she marries successful Parisian writer known commonly as “Willy” (Dominic West) and is transplanted from her childhood home in rural France to the intellectual and artistic splendor of Paris.
