Gyotaku Master Artist Open Studio 

Chuck Seaman, one of only 8 classically trained Gyotaku Masters in the United States, is opening his studio in The Hamptons to the public on Wednesday, August 8 and Thursday, August 9, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Receive a personal tour of Seaman's art and hear about this time-honored tradition and process.

Talk with National Geographic Photographer Joel Sartore

International Center of Photography and the Southampton Arts Center presents "ICP TALKS: Illustrated Talk with Joel Sartore, National Geographic Photographer" on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 7 p.m. 

The second in the ICP TALKS series features Joel Sartore presenting an illustrated talk that offers a chance to see the work of this world-renowned wildlife photographer and conservationist. Sartore is an award-winning photographer, speaker, author, conservationist and the 2018 National Geographic Explorer of the Year.

The Philippe Lemm Trio Performs

The Parrish Art Museum presents "Jazz on the Terrace: The Philippe Lemm Trio" on Friday, August 10, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Bring chairs and blankets to watch the sunset, enjoy café specials, and listen to The Philippe Lemm Trio. Drummer Philippe Lemm leads the Jazz trio, which includes Jeff Koch and Angelo Di Loreto. The group creates musical soundscapes, which range from traditional jazz to the progressive rock/classical-influenced music.

Panel Discussion on Postwar Abstraction in the Hamptons

Eric Firestone Gallery presents a Panel Discussion on the current exhibition,"Montauk Highway II: Postwar Abstraction in the Hamptons" on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 4 p.m.

The Discussion will feature Barbara Rose, Lana Jokel, and Gail Levin and is moderated by Jennifer Samet. The show remains on view through September 23, 2018.

Conversation with Women in the Arts

LongHouse Reserve presents "Women Artists: Reshaping the Conversation" on Saturday, August 11, 2018, from 11 a.m. to noon. 

The second edition of "Women Artists: Reshaping the Conversation" series, hosted by artist Toni Ross, kicks off this weekend and features women in the art world "speaking truth to power," according to organizers. The first panel discussion features Carla Chammas, Carrie Moyer, Dorothea Rockburne, and Terrie Sultan.

Local Artist Paints on Lighthouse Porch 

Southold Historical Society presents a "live art demonstration by local artist Dennis Coburn" on Saturday, August 11, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held on the Southold Lighthouse porch in Southold on the North Fork.

Dennis Coburn is a Long Island artist who has spent 45 years working in watercolors, posters and prints.  His paintings are primarily lighthouses, ferries, tugboats and other nautical subjects.

Film Screening & Discussion on Lee Krasner

Guild Hall presents the John H. Marburger III Memorial Lecture: "Lee Krasner: The Long View" on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 3 p.m.

One of the foremost commentators on modern American art, the art historian, critic, curator and filmmaker, Barbara Rose will revisit her 1978 documentary and share her insights into Lee Krasner's life and career. Her portrait is illuminated by her close friendship with the artist.

Screening of the Documentary "Cuban Food Stories" 

Sag Harbor Cinema Arts Center presents “Artists Love Movies: 'Cuban Food Stories' with Maria Bacardi" on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. 

Follow the personal journey by filmmaker Asori Soto to his native Cuba, in order to rescue the traditional culinary flavors of his youth. The documentary had its world premiere in February at the Berlin Film Festival. Maria Bacardi will host the Q&A session post-screening. Bacardi is an actress, singer, artist and poet born in Cuba.

Artistic Dreams Cocktail Party & Exhibit 

Artistic Dreams International presents a "Summer Cocktail Party and Exhibit on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Martha Clara Vineyards, located in Riverhead at the western end of the North Fork.

The cocktail event and fundraising auction will feature exhibits from established Mexican artists, debuting works relating to immigration at the US border, where Artistic Dreams works. As a highlight, artworks from famous Mexican artist Alberto Cavazos and artists Mariela Avila and Lillian Alonzo will be shown.
