THE ARTISTS OF THE NORTH FORK

Eleven years ago, The Artists of the North Fork began as a painting group devoted to the unique beauty of the North Fork. Over time the group’s monthly meetings evolved into serious critiques of works-in-progress, which has required the members to develop a keener sense of observation and challenged them to use the painter’s tools more effectively.

They value these critiques and delight in the lively meetings where passions run high and frank opinions are aired, and usually much appreciated. The exhibition at Castello di Borghese Vineyard will present some of their recent works. You might catch the artists painting en Plein Air at the Vineyard while you enjoy the wines.

ADELAIDE AMEND began painting very young and studied and taught with the North Fork Impressionist J.B. Hartranft. Amend earned an MFA and taught art for 36 years at Rye High School, NY, where she chaired the Art Dept. Having summered all her life on the North Fork, she now lives in Cutchogue, NY permanently. Her work is in many private collections from Dallas to Boston.

DALIA GORMAN. Since 2014, with no particular training in art, oil painting became Gorman's chosen medium to express, explore and challenge herself. “I am often compelled to recreate images that I find inherently difficult, refusing to accept that anything is impossible to execute," said the artist. "The human body, doing what humans do, is an important inclusion in my work.” Gorman has a BFA from the Univ. of Houston and lives in Cutchogue, NY.
