Jazz on the Terrace Kicks Off 

The Parrish Art Museum presents “Jazz on the Terrace: Eliot Zigmund” on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Eliot Zigmund, with his band including, Matt Garrison, saxophone, Allen Farnham, Piano, and Peter Brendel, bass kick off the summer Jazz series. Presented on the Parrish's outdoor terrace, the series is curated by jazz musician Richard Siegler. Zigmund has been featured at top New York jazz clubs for decades and is renowned among jazz enthusiasts as the drummer who backed up innovators like Chet Baker, Bill Evans, Stan Getz, and Michel Peturcciani. Bring chairs and blankets to watch the sunset and listen to live jazz.

Planter Exhibit & Award Ceremony at LongHouse

LongHouse Reserve presents “Planters: ON+OFF the Ground IX” on Saturday, June 23, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. The Award Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m.

A recurring favorite for both attendees and creatives, "Planters: ON+OFF the Ground IX" brings together artists, landscape designers, architects, nurserymen and key gardeners who have combined plants and vessels in creative and unusual ways. This year's theme is "Freedom in 25 Square Feet." The exhibition will remain on display in the Squash Court through July 21, 2018. Part of the fun of Opening Day is the fact visitors get to cast votes for their favorites which are tallied for the People's Choice Award. Landscape architect/designer, Edmund Hollander presents all the awards.

Artist Charles Wildbank Offers Painting Classes & Open Studio Tours

Artist Charles Wildbank of offering Painting Classes on both Saturday and Sunday morning and Open Studio Tours on both afternoon that are open to the public. Both events take place on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24, 2018. Painting Classes will be held on both days from 9 to 11 a.m., and Open Studio Tours will be held from noon to 6 p.m.

The classes will offer painting instructions in Photorealism with step-by-step lessons in artist Charles Wildbank’s Jamesport, NY studio. The workshop fee is $75 per class and include a canvas and use of paints. Open Studio Tours are free and open to the general public.

Charles Wildbank’s Studio is located at Henry Lewis Lane toward end at cul-de-sac in Jamesport, a hamlet of Riverhead Town, set on the North Fork. Miwa Matreyek on Stage

Guild Hall presents “Miwa Matreyek:This World Made Itself and Myth & Infrastructure” on Sunday, June 24, 2018, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Miwa Matreyek—animator, director, designer, and performer—is an internationally touring artist based in Los Angeles, has a background in animation by way of collage. She creates live, staged performances where she interacts with her animations as a shadow silhouette. Matreyek has performs her interdisciplinary shadow performances around the world including at MoMA, Sundance New Frontier, Lincoln Center and many other venues. She's also given a TED Talk,

Evan Sherman Band to Benefit Bridgehampton Childcare & Recreational Center

Stephen Talkhouse presents the “Evan Sherman Entourage Band” on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Amagansett club. Proceeds benefit the Bridgehampton Childcare & Recreational Center.

Evan Sherman is a 25 year-old drummer, bandleader, composer and arranger. He has played around the world with the likes of James Moody, Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Cyrus Chestnut, Jimmy Heath, Jon Batiste and Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars. Evan is the frontman in the Evan Sherman Entourage and 16-piece Big Band, which consists of up-and-coming musicians playing alongside a rotating cast of legendary veterans.
