Fun was had by all at the 2018 Artists Against Abuse Gala held on June 9, 2018 at The Muses in Southampton, NY. The benefit honored Joy Behar, the co-host of ABC's The View, and Robin Hommel-Tenenbaum, Senior Supervising Producer of The View, for their efforts in raising awareness about The Retreat and helping to make its residential shelter a more comfortable and safe place. The Retreat provides a safe haven for families in crisis in the Hamptons and the East End of Long Island by providing assistance to children and adults who are impacted by domestic violence. They also offer support for survivors and domestic violence prevention education.

The 2018 benefit had a decidedly art focus with images made by children living in The Retreat's shelter on display. The art auction included ceramic platters made by artists plus local restauranteurs, chefs and winemakers that were paired with gift certificates to their businesses.

The gala drew surprise guests actor Alan Alda and his wife, Arlene, who attended on the invitation of Joy Behar, according to The Retreat. Alda also gave a heartfelt speech at the gala, shared The Retreat. Attendees included Steve Maietta, Claudia Pilato, Leslie Morgan Steiner, Tulla BoothRichard Demato, Andrea Kowch, Rick Friedman, Cindy Lou Wakefield and others.
