The holiday weekend is a bit quieter than most with Passover and Easter both taking place. Even still, there are interesting things to do this weekend in The Hamptons and North Fork. Making our list for some of the best options are theater, film screenings, live rock music and opera with a special talk by a conductor and composer. Hampton Theatre Company’s “The Boys Next Door”

The Hampton Theatre Company presents “The Boys Next Door” at the Quogue Community Hall through April 8, 2018. Shows will be held on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. This Saturday, there will be two performances held at 2:30 p.m. and at 8 p.m. There will be no performance on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. 

“The Boys Next Door” is a comedy by Tom Griffin about four men with various mental disabilities living in a group home. Presented in brief vignettes over a roughly two-month period, the play offers humorous commentary on the lives of the four men and their chief caretaker, the social worker Jack Palmer, who is struggling with the decision of whether or not to move on to a new job. The cast features Matt Conlon, Jessica Howard, Scott Hofer, Dorian M. O’Brien, Spencer Scott and Paul Velutis.

Animated Film Screening by Award-Winning Director Keiichi Hara

The Parrish Art Museum presents “Film: Miss Hokusai by Keiichi Hara” on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 6 p.m.

Miss Hokusai” (2015, PG-13, 93 minutes, in Japanese with English subtitles), is an animated, coming-of-age tale about the daughter of a famous painter finding her own voice in Edo (present day Tokyo). The film is by award-winning director Keiichi Hara (Colorful) and produced by Production I.G.

2018 Oscar Winner "A Fantastic Woman" Screens

Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center screens "A Fantastic Woman" on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 4 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, April 1, 2018 at 4 p.m.

Awarded the 2018 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, "A Fantastic Woman" tells the story of Marina, a transsexual woman who works as a waitress and moonlights as a nightclub singer. Bowled over by the death of her older boyfriend, she finds herself unable to mourn as expected after being confronted with suspicion, prejudice and contempt by her deceased lover's doctors and family. Spanish, 104 minutes, Rated R. Directed by Sebastian Lelio.

Dave Davies of The Kinks Appears at Suffolk Theater

The Suffolk Theater presents Dave Davies of the Kinks in concert on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 8 p.m.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame legend Dave Davies presents his guitar skills in a one-night-only show at the historic Suffolk Theater in Riverhead. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 8 p.m. Ticket options include row seating and cabaret seating. Price Fixe and A La Carte menus available for additional purchase. Bay Street Theater hosts “Nancy Atlas and Friends” on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 8 p.m.

An East End favorite, enjoy this special spring concert performed by Nancy Atlas and Friends.

Lecture and Screening of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte

Guild Hall presents "Operatif Lecture with Victoria Bond" on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at noon. "The Met: Live in HD - Mozart's Cosi fan tutte" will be screened at 1 p.m.

Listen to an Operatif Lecture with Composer, Conductor, and Opera Scholar Victoria Bond. Following will be a screening of Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte." A winning cast comes together for Phelim McDermott’s vision of Mozart’s comedy about the sexes, set in a carnival-esque environment inspired by 1950s Coney Island. Kelli O’Hara stars, with Amanda Majeski, Serena Malfi, Ben Bliss, and Adam Plachetka as the pairs of young lovers who test each other’s faithfulness. David Robertson conducts. Run Time: 4 hours.

Tickets for the pre-opera lecture are $30 and free for Opera donors. Tickets for "The Met: Live in HD - Mozart's Cosi fan tutte" are $22, $20 for Members and $15 for students. Guild Hall is located at 158 Main St, East Hampton, NY 11937. www.guildhall.org.
