Saxophonist Morris Goldberg Performs

The Jam Session Inc. presents their “Special Guest Series 2018: Morris Goldberg” on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bay Burger in Sag Harbor, NY.

New York based composer, saxophonist, clarinetist, penny whistler and vocalist, Morris Goldberg recently completed recording his third album with his group, OJOYO. Goldberg grew up in Observatory, Cape Town, South Africa, and nurtured musical roots that spans jazz, classical music, bebop and mbaqanga. Supporting Goldberg is the Thursday Night Alive Band featuring Peter Weiss on bass, Bill Smith on piano and Claes Brondal on drums. Brondal is MC for the evening.

Film on Artist Elizabeth Murray Screens at the Parrish

The Parrish Art Museum presents “Film: Everybody Knows... Elizabeth Murray” on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 6 p.m.

“Everybody Knows... Elizabeth Murray (2016, NR, 60 minutes)” is an intimate portrait on the artist Elizabeth Murray, exploring the relationship between Murray’s family life and career, and reconsidering her place in contemporary art history. Verité footage, home videos, and excerpts from her journals, voiced by Meryl Streep, tell of Murray's internal struggles and ambition. Directed by Kristi Zea and narrated by Meryl Streep. The film will be introduced by Sophie Ellsberg; actress, director, and daughter of Elizabeth Murray.

Weaving on a Frame Loom Workshops

Hallockville Museum Farm presents the two-part workshop, “Weaving on a Frame Loom” on Friday, January 19 and on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Learn the foundation of this age-old craft with the modern twist of a frame loom. Create your own one of a kind hand woven wall hanging full of color and texture. Learn the basics, new tricks and techniques, and explore the endless possibilities to this relaxing art form.

Tickets are $90 and $85 for members. A material fee of $25 includes (To be paid directly to instructor at time of first class): one hand made wooden frame loom to keep, merino roving and assortment of yarns. Students are required to bring: a variety of stash yarns, a fork or a wide toothcomb, large tapestry needle and scissors. All Star Stand Up Comedy at Bay Street

Bay Street Theater presents the new “All Star Comedy Show” on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 8 p.m.

All Star Comedy returns with these rising stars from New York: Sam Rubinoff (Hoboken Comedy Festival, “Dog Days” Web Show), Greg Stone (NBC’s America’s Got Talent, TruTv) and Mark DeMayo (Optimum’s UnMovers, Gotham Live).

“Next To Normal” Performed on the North Fork

The North Fork Community Theatre presents “Next To Normal” on January 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, February 2, 3 and 4, 2018. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. Sundays.

The 2008 musical “Next to Normal” explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. Dad’s an architect; Mom’s vivacious; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens, appearing to be a typical American family. And yet their lives are anything but normal.

Winner of three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score, and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize. Music by Tom Kitt, book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey. Directed by Jessica Raven. Cast includes: Kelli Baumann, James Stevens, Sydnee LaBuda, Ava Bianchi, Zachary Zain, Eric Hughes, Matthew Mendoza and Peter Peterson.

Hampton Theatre Company Presents "Venus in Fur"

The Hampton Theatre Company presents "Venus in Fur" at the Quogue Community Hall through January 28, 2018. Performances are held on Thursdays and Fridays at 7, Saturdays at 8 and Sundays at 2:30. The additional matinee performance of “Venus in Fur” will be presented on Saturday, January 27, at 2:30 p.m.

“Venus in Fur”—a dark comedy by David Ives that takes gender politics and issues of domination to mythic proportions —is the second play of the Hampton Theatre Company’s 2017-2018 season. The show is directed by Diana Marbury.

Tickets range from $10 to $30. The Quogue Community Hall is located at 125 Jessup Ave, Quogue, NY 11959. www.hamptontheatre.org.

Film Screening of “THE FINAL YEAR”

Hamptons International Film Festival and Guild Hall presents “NOW SHOWING: A Screening of THE FINAL YEAR” on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 6 p.m.

THE FINAL YEAR" (USA, 2017, 89 minutes), directed by Greg Barker, shows a look at the inner workings of the Obama administration’s foreign policy team: Secretary of State John Kerry; UN Ambassador Samantha Power; Deputy National Security Adviser and presidential confidant Ben Rhodes; as well as National Security Adviser Susan Rice; and the President himself. Over the course of 2016, they travel the world attempting to solidify and "lock-in" policies they believe will define their legacy, as they prepare to hand over the machinery of American power to a new administration.
