The holiday season has officially begun in The Hamptons and on the North Fork with festive cultural events taking place through the weekend. Our list of some of the best things to do on the East End includes a documentary film festival, a live radio play, a cocktail fundraiser, creative holiday shopping, artist talks and more. Live Radio Play at Southampton Cultural Center

"A Christmas Carol, A Live Radio Play" has its final run of performances Thursday, November 30, 2017 through Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Levitas Center for the Arts at Southampton Cultural Center. Performances will be held on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. Saturday at 2, 5 and 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 and 5 p.m.

Based on the classic story, A Christmas Carol, this production is Joe Landry’s take on the epiphany of Ebenezer Scrooge. Produced and written as a live 1940s radio broadcast, the adaptation visually and aurally recreates the era and the hopeful message that define the original work.

Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival

The 10th annual Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival will present screenings, programs and special events during its run, taking place Thursday, November 30 through Monday, December 4, 2017 at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, NY.

Greenport Gallery Walk 

The Greenport Gallery Walk takes place on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Village of Greenport on the North Fork.

The free self-guided tour unfolds throughout Greenport Village featuring nine participating galleries. Shops throughout the village will stay open late for the Gallery Walk where fine crafts, jewelry and other items can be found.

Documentary Screening & Talk with Painter & Filmmaker

A Screening of the documentary "Yigal Ozeri: The Chameleon" by Vincent Zambrano takes place on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Parrish Art Museum.

The film is followed by a talk with Ozeri and Zambrano. Ozeri currently has art on view in the exhibition "From Lens to Eye to Hand: Photorealism 1969 to Today."

"Yigal Ozeri: The Chameleon" (2016, NR, 102 minutes) has brief moments of nudity. Tickets are $20 for non-members and $5 for museum members and students. Includes admission to the museum. Wooden Wonderland with Wood Carving Demonstrations & Holiday Craft Show at Suffolk County Historical Society Museum

The Suffolk County Historical Society presents its “7th Annual Wooden Wonderland: Holiday Craft Show & Sale” on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Riverhead, NY.

The 7th Annual Wooden Wonderland Holiday Craft Show and Sale will feature local artisans and vendors offering handmade wooden objects as well as other creative items. The family friendly event will also feature live woodworking and woodcarving demonstrations in the Museum and on the grounds.

Poetry Reading of Works by Manoucher Yektai at Guild Hall

Poems by artist Manoucher Yektai will be read on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Yektai's work will be read in Farsi by Iraj Anvar, Visiting Lecturer in Modern Persian Center for Language Studies at Brown University, and in English by his sons Darius and Nico Yetktai.

Video excerpts of Manoucher reading his own work in Farsi will be screened. Complimentary copies of Manoucher’s poetry book, Paint Box, will be available for all who attend. The Poetry Reading is held in conjunction with the exhibition "Yektai: Manoucher Yektai, Nico Yektai, Darius Yektai." Holiday Cocktail Party & Fundraiser at The Sag Harbor Whaling Museum

The Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum presents its 4th Annual Holiday Cocktail Party & Fundraiser on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Museum invites guests to celebrate the winter holidays with drinks, hors d’oeuvres and live jazz by Steve Shaughnessy. The event also includes an art sale and a chance to take home a holiday ornament.

"Halsband Portraits" Gallery Tour by Halsband

Photographer Michael Halsband will lead a gallery tour through his portrait retrospective on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at noon at Southampton Arts Center.

The portraiture survey spans over three decades of the artist’s work, including the iconic photographs from the 1985 Warhol/Basquiat with Boxing Gloves series and 35mm film of The Rolling Stones live performance during their Tattoo You tour. The exhibition includes a variety of 20th century artists, writers and musicians including James Brown, David Byrne, Johnny Depp, Iggy Pop, LL Cool J and others.
