Thanksgiving Weekend is a busy one in the Hamptons gallery scene. There's plenty of new shows holding opening receptions to celebrate the latest additions to the Hamptons and North Fork art scenes.

In addition, the museums and cultural center have much to offer for art viewing. Consider visiting the Parrish Art Museum to take in the reinstallation of its permanent collection. Presented under the single exhibition umbrella "The Permanent Collection: Five and Forward," there are six shows in total that include solos shows of art by Alan Shields, James Brooks and William Merritt Chase along with three group shows.

"Five and Forward" take an examined look at artists whose work represents major trends, themes and concepts in American art history while underscoring the ongoing artistic legacy of Long Island’s East End, according to the museum. All together, the exhibition presents nearly 100 artworks from the museum's permanent collection. Click here for exhibition details.

Guild Hall is another spot to put on your art viewing list. On view are three shows: "YEKTAI: Manoucher Yektai, Nico Yektai, Darius Yektai" in the Moran Gallery; "Pamela Topham: Tapestry Visions" in the Spiga Gallery and "Recollections: Selections from the Permanent Collection." All three shows present a slice of the artist community of the East End. Click here for exhibition details.

The Southampton Arts Center just opened a strong solo show of portraits by Michael Halsband. Embedded during one of the Rolling Stones tours, expect to find lots of action shots as well as intimate portraits of the band. Filling the entirety of the cultural center that inhabits the former Parrish Art Museum location, "Halsband Portraits" has much to say and present. Click here for exhibition details.
