Greenport gets things started with its monthly Gallery Walk featuring art galleries, design shops, artists studios and more. GREENPORT

GREENPORT GALLERY WALK - “The Greenport Gallery Walk” holds its next self-guided art walk in the Village of Greenport on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. Eight art galleries and artist studios welcome late night visitors with special events and exhibitions. Select village merchants also stay open late. The event repeats the first Friday evening of every month through December 2017. Attending the event is free. SIRENS' SONG GALLERY - "Making Waves" has an Opening Reception on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. The group exhibit features work by East End artists with water and its inhabitants as muse in both fact and fiction. Exhibiting artists are JoAnne Dumas, Kathleen Bifulco, Anneli Arms and Caroline Walinsky. At the Opening Reception, JoAnne Dumas and Caroline Walinksy will be on hand to discuss their art and process. Dumas makes sculptural collages from her abstract photography and Walinsky will discuss intaglio and relief printmaking. The exhibition continues through July 31, 2017. SOUTH STREET GALLERY - "Imagined – New Dimensions in Digital Art" has an Artist’s Reception on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through July 31, 2017. The Artist’s Reception is part of the Greenport Gallery Walk. Artists on view are Ron Barron, Roz Dimon, Colin Goldberg, Kasmira Mohanty and Alan Richards. EASTVILLE COMMUNITY HISTORICAL SOCIETY - "Native American Life on the East End" has an Opening Reception on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition presents more than 60 artifacts, including tintypes, cabinet cards, vintage and modern photographs, and contemporary artwork from artist and Shinnecock Indian Reservation resident David Bunn Martine. GRENNING GALLERY - "Nelson White Solo Show" has an Opening Reception on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The solo show presents landscapes and seascapes by White. The solo exhibition features the series "Strings," recent abstract figurative work by Christopher Engel. ART SPACE 98 - “AFFINITIES” by Sarah Jaffe Turnbull has an Artist Reception on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. Sarah Jaffe Turnbull is known for her expressive, intimate glazed ceramic sculptures. For her solo show at Art Space 98, Turnbull has created a new body of works that express acute awareness of present times and events. She will also exhibit recent photography. HALSEY MCKAY GALLERY - “Hilary Pecis- Desert Paintings” and "Lauren Luloff - Sun Drawn" have Opening Receptions on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. Both exhibitions remain on view through July 24, 2017. This is Pecis's second solo show with the gallery and Luloff's third. Pecis presents new works draws from snapshots taken on a recent trip through the southern California desert as opportunity for exploration in paint handling and color, line and pattern recognition. In her new paintings, Luloff continues to combine layers of fabric with hand painted patterns and plant life inspired by woodblock techniques she studied in India and landscapes visited by the artist that she considers significant for their natural beauty and cultural significance. ASHAWAGH HALL - "The Paintings of Deborah Black" will have an Opening Reception on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. Black's work was inspired by the bays and inlets surrounding her home in East Hampton. Her work has been exhibited in galleries on the East End including Spanierman Gallery. Black passed away in 2015. The exhibition is curated by Arlene Bujese.
