Toni Ross works in ceramics and site-specific installations that favors sculptural forms with uncertain interiors and enclosed sculptural forms, according to her artist statement. In recent works, Ross's large-scale sculptures incorporate architectural elements in art that makes use of vessels, containers and totems to impact existing exterior or interior elements. Through the work, Ross examines the contrast between balance and instability, the expected and anticipated and the visual relationship created through form, texture and surfaces.
Recent site-specific installations include Do Not Look Behind This Wall, A Response to Denial, 2017, at Southampton Arts Center and Permanent Transience, 2016, at Marder's as part of the Parrish Road Show. To see more of her art, visit www.tonirossstudio.com.
