The Islip Art Museum co-hosts its third and final 2016 Slide Slam revealing Long Island artists on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Long Island Museum in Stony Brook. Slide Slam is designed to showcase artists currently working on Long Island. It also aims to cross-pollinate communities on Long Island (Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Brooklyn) to heighten awareness that contemporary artists are located across Long Island. The program will also introduce selected artists to Long Island art communities in a series curated shows set in Suffolk County.
For each Slide Slide events, artists have five minutes to present their work to an audience that includes curators and arts professionals. The event wraps up with a networking meet and greet where the audience and the artists mingle.
Slide Slam 3 at the Long Island Museum features 17 artists plus guest speaker artist and curator John Cino. Presenting artists are Chris Ann Ambery, Anu Annam, Robyn Bellospirito, JoAnne Dumas, Cara Enteles, Adel Gorgy, Bennett Horowitz, Adam Inzalaco, Lorena Kalaja, Dan Lachacz, Bruce Lieberman, Linda Louis, Jeffrey Allen Price, David Rodgers, Joseph Rotella, Thomas Ruggio and Mark Strodl.
The first round was held at Islip Art Museum in August and featured presentations by Martin Andrews; Ayako Bando; Ye-seul Choi; Sage Cotignola; Michele Dragonetti; Lisa Federici; Samantha Hernandez; Kathryn Ko; Rachelle Krieger; Neil Leinwohl; Juan Lopez Espantaleon; Kasmira Mohanty; Anne Sherwood Pundyk; Ching Wen Tsai and Qin Han. The featured speaker was Hamptons Art Hub publisher and arts journalist Pat Rogers.
The 2016 Project IAM Unifying project focuses on creating opportunities and merging LI's creative clusters in efforts to address the lack of national awareness for Long Island's thriving artistic community. The Slide Slams are presented through a collaboration with the Islip Art Museum, the Patchogue Arts Council, RIPE Art and the Long Island Museum. Hamptons Art Hub is a special media sponsor.
