This weekend is a busy one on the East End of Long Island. Expect to find five benefits to choose from (click here for list), two new exhibitions at the Parrish and plenty of things to do with an art twist taking place in the Hamptons, Riverhead and the North Fork. Springs Invitational

The 49th Annual Springs Improvement Society's Invitational Exhibit opens Friday night at Ashawagh Hall with an Opening Reception taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. This year's curator is artist Nicolas Tarr. The exhibition opens today at 1 p.m. with the big reveal of the artists who were invited to this year's exhibition.

The fun continues Saturday night (August 6, 2016) with performance artist Jeremy Slater presenting at 7 p.m. followed by the John Jinks film "A Guitar Makers Path" at 8 p.m. and Jinks's outdoor projections "Red Dress" and "Reboot." The springs invitation continues through August 21, 2016 the a portion of artwork sales benefiting the Springs Improvement Society, who manages Ashawagh Hall. Greenport Gallery Walk

The first Greenport Gallery Walk takes place on Friday, August 5, 2016, from 6 to 9 p.m. The free self-guided gallery walk includes six stops in Greenport Village with most located on Main Street. Expect to find contemporary art and refreshments at Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. Gallery; South Street Gallery; Gallery M; Nova Constellatio Gallery; Sirens' Song Gallery and Hector deCordova Studio & Gallery. Click here for details. The Greenport Gallery Walk will be held the first Friday of each month from August through December.

National Juried Art Competition Exhibition

East End Arts Gallery unveils the winners of its 5th Annual National Juried Art Competition and Exhibition on Friday in an Opening Reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Jurors for "The Gallerist, The Artist, The Critic & The Kid" are gallerist Peter Marcelle; artist and art critic Eric Ernst; arts writer and critic Joyce Beckenstein and Celina Jones, a youth from East Hampton. Live Street Artist Paint Off

A live street painting competition takes place on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. with an afterparty running until 10 p.m. at Dorian Grey Gallery in Watermill. The "Hamptons Art Duel" features two teams of renowned street artists (BD-White & JPO, Jeremy Penn & Lambros) collaborating live on artwork. Music provided by DJ Nicole Rosé. Bleckner, Fischl & Salle Open at the Parrish

"Unfinished Business: Paintings from the 1970s and 1980s by Ross Bleckner, Eric Fischl, and David Salle" opens this weekend at the Parrish with two receptions. An invitation-only preview takes place on Saturday and a public Members Reception is held on Sunday, starting with a Curator's Talk on the Exhibition at 11 a.m. Not a museum member? The exhibition explores the distinct styles, philosophies and convictions of the three painters and presents 23 large-scale canvases and 17 works on paper. The exhibition opens on August 7 and continues through October 16, 2016. Larry Rivers Panel

Larry Rivers and the exhibition "Celebration of Larry Rivers" at Vered Gallery in East Hampton will discussed on Sunday, August 7, 2016 during "Brunch and Conversation on Larry Rivers" featuring David Cohen (Editor/Publisher of Artcritical) and Catherine Gropper (former student of Larry Rivers, artist and playwright). The brunch takes place from 10 to 11 a.m. with the conversation beginning at 11 a.m. The event is free. Parrish Road Show

"Bastienne Schmidt: Archeology of Time" is the first of two Parrish Road Show installations in this off-site exhibition series. Presented at the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum in Sag Harbor, an Opening Reception takes place on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by clicking here. For her Parrish Road Show, Bastienne Schmidt combed the Whaling Museum's collection for functional objects with lattices or grids – such as nets, strings, and hardtack – and reinterpreted them through translucent paper works that incorporate threads, fabric and natural elements.
