Larry Rivers Exhibition Opens

A solo show of Larry River's work opens this weekend at Vered Gallery in East Hampton Village. The show features two suites of work: Me and My Shadow and Oedipus Rex. An Opening Reception for the public takes place on Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. A private reception is being held Friday night.
The exhibition features figurative photo-montages and a series of images made for the staging of the 1966 Igor Stravinsky Opera-Oratorio festival at Lincoln Center. Click here

Final Weekend: Peter Beard
This is the final weekend to visit Peter Beard's solo show at Guild Hall museum in East Hampton. "Peter Beard: Last Word From Paradise" takes over the entire museum and features works focused on either Africa or the East End of Long Island. The exhibition is Beard's first U.S. museum solo exhibition in 15 years. On view are over 50 multi-layered collages, drawings, photographs, and diaries from the 1960s to the present. The works in the Africa focus includes iconic works that reveal the changes in the landscape. In the East End focus, expect to find Montauk portraits of Peter Beard's home, family and friends including Mick Jagger

Jazz in the Vines Live Concert
The first of two smooth jazz concerts takes place on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jamesport Vineyard on the North Fork. Saturday's Jazz in the Vines concert features Matt Marshak and includes a wine tasting. Admission is $30. The concert unveil's Marshak's latest recording. It is his only Long Island appearance this summer. The series is presented by New York Wine Events at Jamesport Vineyard. For details, click here

Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival Opens
Classical music fans may already be aware that the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival opens its summer concert series this weekend. The music festival opens on Sunday with "Mozart: A Portrait in Music and Words" hosted by actor Alan Alda in a program that presents an intimate portrait of Mozart's life through stories and music. Limited tickets are available. An additional performance will be presented on Monday at 6:30 p.m. The summer music festival continues through August 28, 2016. Final Weekend: Water & Bodies in Art
Presented by the New York Academy of Art, “WATER|BODIES” explores the intersection of figuration and portrayals of water in painting, photographs and sculptures by established and emerging artists with connections to the East End and the New York Academy of Art.
