Art Hamptons opens with Previews on Thursday, June 23, 2016, feeling like an unofficially launch of the Hamptons art summer. The art fair opens to the public on Friday and continues through Sunday under a new fair producer and set on the same private estate in Bridgehampton as last year. In addition, there are plenty of things to do and cultural events to pack any weekend.

Our selections for things to do in The Hamptons and the North Fork include theater, panel discussions on Cuban Art and the Allure of the East End for Artists plus open air jazz, Russian dance, an artisanal food festival, a plein air painting class and more. 1. "The Underpants" Play by Steve Martin at Guild Hall

"The Underpants" has its final weekend at Guild Hall, presented through June 23 to 26, 2016 at 8 p.m. at Guild Hall.

Bill Fennelly directs "The Underpants," a comedy from the mind of Steve Martin. The play highlights the absurdity of instant fame with verbal jousting and sexual innuendo. Stars Michael Brian Dunn, Marianna McClellan, Tuck Milligan, Daniel Passer, Sabrina Profitt and Mark David Watson and features Hollybeth Gourlay and Margot Plum.

2. Jazz en Plein Air Performance With Lafayette Harris, Jr.

Pianist Lafayette Harris, Jr. and his quartet performs on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 6 p.m. at The Parrish Art Museum.

The second concert in the Parrish Art Museum's outdoor music series, Lafayette Harris, Jr. and his quartet will celebrate, in concert, Harris's new release "Hangin’ with the Big Boys" as well as "Bend to the Light," featuring Lonnie Plaxico and Willie Jones III, which received positive reviews and hit 25 on the jazz charts. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets to enjoy the concert from the museum's terrace.

3. Oil Pastel En Plein Air Workshop With Nancy Ness 

An Oil Pastel Workshop with Nancy Ness takes place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at South Street Gallery. Reservations are required.

Artist Nancy Ness leads a one-day plein air workshop designed to allow students to become comfortable with the medium of oil pastels as a tool to paint finishes or small studies outdoors or to create works while life drawing or in the studio. Weather permitting, students will paint outside using oil pastels, mineral spirits and paper. In the event of rain, a still life will be set up in the gallery.

4. "North Fork Crush" Wine & Artisanal Food Festival

The North Fork Crush Wine & Artisanal Food Festival takes place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 in two sessions at Jamesport Vineyards. An Afternoon Session takes place from noon to 3 p.m. with an Evening Session held from 4 to 7 p.m.

North Fork Crush presents over 100 Long Island wines and specialty foods. Attendees will get the chance to sample and purchase wines with light accompaniments.

5. "Cuban Art Today" Panel Discussion at Art Hamptons

 The panel discussion "Cuban Art Today" takes place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. in the VIP Lounge at Art Hamptons.
Carole Rosenberg, President, American Friends of Ludwig Foundation of Cuba, Luis Miret, gallery director, Galeria Habana, and Tonel, artist, critic, and curator, will describe and discuss contemporary Cuban art. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition "ARTCHIPELAGO: Because Every Artist is an Island," presented Galeria Habana at Booth 216 at the art fair.

6. The New Inlet Chamber Orchestra Presents "Carmen Fantasy" at Peconic Landing

"Carmen Fantasy" is performed by the New Inlet Chamber Orchestra on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 4 p.m. at Peconic Landing.

The "Carmen Fantasy" features all of the familiar themes from George Bizet's opera "Carmen." The New Inlet Chamber Orchestra performs the piece arranged and scored for chamber orchestra and guitar by Glen B. Cortese.

7. Annual Antique Show at the Bridgehampton Museum

The Bridgehampton Museum's Annual Antique Show takes place on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Corwith House.

The 24th Annual Antique Show and Sale presents the wares of fifty antique dealers. All admission proceeds benefit The Bridgehampton Museum.

8. "The Magic of Russia" Dance Performance at Southampton Cultural Center

"The Magic of Russia" Performance and Cocktail Reception takes place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Southampton Cultural Center.

The Barynya Ensemble will perform folk dance and music from areas in and around Russia. The performance will be followed by a reception featuring Russian hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Proceeds benefit the Southampton Cultural Center's DanceFusion Program.

9. Staged Reading of "Stuffed" With Lisa Lampanelli

Lisa Lampanelli presents a Staged Reading of "Stuffed" on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 8 p.m. at Bay Street Theater.

"Stuffed" is a play written by and starring comedian/author Lisa Lampanelli. The piece portrays the struggle of food and weight issues from both a comedic and heartfelt perspective. The play is the first in a series of four works Lampanelli is writing on issues important to women.

10. East End Allure for Artists Discussed by Helen Harrison, Christina Mossaides Strassfield, Dawn Watson & Pat Rogers

A Panel Discussion titled "The Allure of the East End" takes place on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the VIP Lounge at Art Hamptons.

Panelists will discuss the importance of artist groups as well as the how and why artists have flocked to the East End from the 1880s to the present. The discussion features panelists Helen Harrison, Director of the Pollock-Krasner House and Studio, Christina Mossaides Strassfield, Guild Hall Museum Director and Chief Curator, and Dawn Watson, journalist and photographer. The talk is moderated by Pat Rogers, Publisher and Managing Editor of Hamptons Art Hub.
