This exhibition features works by Kwon Young-woo (1926–2013), one of the founding figures of Dansaekhwa, a monochrome painting movement that redefined Korean art in the mid-1960s. Seeking a new method of art-making that would stray from the traditional ink-paining technique that dominated Korea at the time, Kwon began to perforate, scratch and rip the surface of his paper to create compositions. This is the artist's first solo presentation in New York.

Blum & Poe is located at 19 E 66th St, New York, NY 10065. www.blumandpoe.com.

Christopher Stout Gallery presents “Vincent Tiley” on view from June 3 to June 26, 2016. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday, June 3 from 6 to 9 p.m.

"Silent Heat" features works by Vincent Tiley that blur the lines between sculpture, painting and performance. The wall-mounted works on view evoke a sense of the body while durational performance works that accompany the exhibition create a sense of the body becoming a substrate for a painted surface. Tiley and performance artist Hunter Reynolds will be connected to each other in a sculptural bodysuit that will abstract their bodies and obscure their identities. Both the performance works and the wall-mounted works address fetish cultures.
