Artist applications are now being accepted for the Parrish Art Museum's biennial, "Artists Choose Artists", an exhibition that highlights artists of the East End of Long Island. Starting today (April 15, 2016), applications will be accepted online via the Slideroom.com system through May 31, 2016. To assist artists with the process, an Information Session has been set for Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at noon at the museum. Space is limited for the free and reservations are recommended. Attending an Information Session is not necessary and artists can apply for consideration when ready. There is an application fee of $20. Click here to apply.

The "Artists Choose Artists" biennial is open to artists living on the East End in a zip code that begins with "119". This includes the South Fork, The North Fork, Shelter Island and Riverhead. The exhibition is open to works in all media.

"Artists Choose Artists" highlights artists on the East End and the dynamic relationships uniting the area’s creative community. Seven notable artists of the region jury the exhibition and choose two artists, per juror, whose work will be exhibited alongside his or her own. The exhibition is designed to catalyze creative networks, and encourage mentorship and conversations between artists at varying stages in their careers.

This year's judges are Tina Barney, Lynda Benglis, Donald Lipski, Tony Oursler, Jorge Pardo, Cindy Sherman and Leo Villareal.

"Artists Choose Artists" was held previously in 2013 and 2011. In 2013, the judges were Laurie AndersonJudith HudsonMel KendrickDavid SalleNed SmythKeith Sonnier and Robert Wilson.

Artists chosen to exhibit were Elizabeth Dow, Mary McCormick, Don Christensen, Christine Sciulli, Elise Ansel, Eva Faye, Carol Hayes, Virva Hinnemo, Koichiro Kunta, Rick Liss, Rossa Cole, Brian Gaman, Tucker Marder and Ezra Thompson.

In 2011, "Artists Choosing Artists" judges were Alice Aycock, Ross Bleckner, Dan Rizzie, Mathew Satz, Garry Simmons, Agathe Snow and Frank Wimberley.

Artists selected were Kryn Olson, Mike Solomon, Renate Aller, Mary Ellen Bartley, Ross Watts, Tad Wiley, Terry Elkins, Liliya Lifanova, Perry Burns, Melinda Hackett, Alice Hope, Nella Khanis, Fulvio Massi and Julie Small-Gamby.

Applications will be accepted through May 31, 2016. Applications to "Artists Choosing Artists" should include a Curriculum Vitae, an Artist Statement (up to 500 words), five work samples (images, video or audio) and a website URL. Apply online at parrishart.slideroom.com.

The exhibition will be held from October 30, 2016 to January 16, 2017.
