The Hamptons, North Fork and Riverhead are humming with art events and culture this weekend. Expect to find exhibition openings, artist talks, concerts, lectures, film and more in this week's Art Event Round Up. Happy weekend!


ALEX FERRONE PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY - “Taste North Fork Photographers Talks” take place on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. As a part of Taste North Fork 2015, photographers will give free mini Gallery Talks at the gallery. Karen Bell, Susan Dooley and Patricia Beary will speak this Saturday. Alex Ferrone Photography Gallery is located at 25425 Main Road, Cutchogue, NY 11935.


GUILD HALL - “Gallery Talk with Artist Stephanie Brody-Lederman and Museum Director/Chief Curator Christina Strassfield” takes place on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Admission is free. Stephanie Brody-Lederman’s works are on view at Guild Hall through January 3, 2016.

“Gallery Talk with Christina Strassfield and Photographer Walter Weissman” takes place on Monday at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free. Weissman’s work in on view at Guild Hall through February 21, 2016.

PECONIC LANDING - “Lecture by Michael P. Dyer” takes place on Saturday at 3 p.m. Whaling Curator Michael P. Dyer will discuss David G. Floyd’s whaling career through a lecture titled “Tuthill’s Memorial: Tragedy and Triumph in Greenport’s Whaling Heyday, 1833-1860.” The event is presented by Brecknock Hall Foundation and Southold Historical Society. CHURCH OF THE REDEEMER - “Notes Across the Centuries: Paolo Bartolani in Concert” takes place on Sunday at 3 p.m. The concert is presented by The Long Island Composers Alliance and The Douglas Moore Festival Committee. The Church of the Redeemer is located at 13225 Sound Avenue, Mattituck, NY 11952.


MONTAUK LIBRARY - “Artist Talk with Susan Schrott and Exhibition” takes place on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free. Textile Artist Susan Schrott’s Art Quilts are on view through November 30. The Montauk Library is located at 871 Montauk Highway, Montauk, NY 11954.


EAST END ARTS - “Annual Holiday Gift Boutique” has it’s Grand Opening on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The boutique offers handmade gifts by local artists. The holiday sale is open through December 23. East End Arts members receive a 15% discount on all purchases. East End Arts is located at 133 East Main Street, Riverhead, NY 11901.

SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER - “Rising Stars Piano Series: Hunter Noack” takes place on Saturday at 7 p.m. Admission to the concert is $20, free for students under 21. Southampton Cultural Center is located at 25 Pond Lane, Southampton, NY 11969.


PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “Brain Food: Jane Freilicher and Jane Wilson: Seen and Unseen” takes place today at noon. Curator Alicia G. Longwell will present an illustrated talk on the exhibition. Admission is $10, free for members, children and students.

“Home Sweet Home Movies” screen on Friday at 6 p.m. Historic home movies submitted by local residents and set on the East End will be screened in celebration of the 375th Anniversary of Southampton Town. Admission is $10, free for members, children and students. 

“Guided Tour of the Permanent Collection” takes place on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 3 p.m. The docent-led tour features highlights from the seven permanent collection galleries. Free with museum admission. Reservations suggested.

SARA NIGHTINGALE GALLERY - “Cara Enteles: Mirrors in the Garden” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through December 14. Enteles will present recent paintings exploring the impossibility of symmetry and order in nature.

“Stephanie Brody-Lederman: Out Gallivanting” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Brody-Lederman will show her paintings and mixed media works that combine her visual observations with text inspired by conversations, poetry and other sources. The exhibition is presented by Karyn Mannix.
