Plenty of art and cultural events are slated for this weekend on Long Island's East End. Halloween is a theme this weekend with a Halloween Costume Ball with the HooDoo Loungers at Bay Street Theater, the Edgar Allen Poe Festival in Riverhead and more. GUILD HALL - "Gallery Talk with Christina Strassfield" - Guild Hall Museum Director/Chief Curator Christina Strassfield gives an exhibition tour and insights into the work of Cornelia Foss on Monday at 12:30 p.m. A solo show of paintings by Cornelia Foss is exhibited through January 3, 2016. EDGAR ALLEN POE FESTIVAL takes place from Friday through Sunday at locations throughout Riverhead. Events include an Edgar Allan Poe Parade with Flash Mob to Michael Jackson's Thriller on Friday at 7 p.m.; trick or treating along Main Street on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; a re-imaging of the classic Orson Wells 1938 radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Vail Leavitt Music Hall, a Halloween Party & Brunch at the Long Island Aquarium and more. SUFFOLK COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY - “Book & Bottle with MaryLaura Lamont on Land, Sea, and Sky: The Artwork of Old Mastic” takes place on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The talk and slide presentation featuring artwork from the book is $5, free for members. Guest panelists include John Zissovici, Viola Rouhani, AIA, Jee Won Kim, and James Merrell. Admission is $10, free for members, children and students.
“Guided Tour of the Permanent Collection” takes place on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 3 p.m. The docent-led tour features highlights from the seven permanent collection galleries. Free with museum admission. Reservations suggested.
