It's that time of year when thoughts turn to boxes...art boxes made for East End Hospice for its annual Box Art Auction. A long-standing tradition in the Hamptons summer benefit season, the Box Art Auction is one of the final events of season. The Preview Reception will be held on Wednesday night (September 2, 2015) with the Box Art Auction itself taking place on Saturday, September 12, 2015.

Each artist transforms an ordinary wooden box into a tabletop artwork. Most of the time, the box art has a visual connection to the artist's fine art. Some contributing artists have work that are part of Hamptons museum collections or exhibit there in curated solo or group shows. Among their ranks are Michelle Stuart, April Gornik, Frank Wimberely, Stephanie Brody-Lederman, Daniel Pollera, Tracy Harris, Connie Fox, Randall Rosenthal and others.

Most of the contributing artists are well-known in the Hamptons art scene or on the national one. No matter what the exhibition record, participating artist pitch in and to help East End Hospice raise money so they can continue to assist those who are dying and their families make the most of their time together.

The Box Art Auction is organized by curator Arlene Bujese. This year's box artists include Hans Van de Bovenkamp, James Kennedy, Janet Culbertson, Carol Hunt, Christa Maiwald, Casey Chalem Anderson, Louise Peabody, Fulvio Massi, Don Saco, Ruby Jackson, Sarah Jaffe Turnbull, Mary Laspia, Gabrielle T. Raacke, Pamela Topham, David Geiser and many more.
