Over 350 guests celebrated the opening of the “Roy Lichtenstein: Between Sea and Sky” exhibition at Guild Hall’s Summer Gala held on Friday, August 7, 2015.
Following the preview of the show, the party moved to a 23 acre private estate in East Hampton where the festivities included music by Hannah Bronfman (DJ, model, and entrepreneur), with the dining catered by Sonnier & Castle.
April Gornik hosted the evening, which included a tribute by Dorothy Lichtenstein to her long-time friend Mickey Straus in whose memory the exhibition is dedicated. Mr. Straus joined Guild Hall’s board in 1992 and served as Chair from 1995-2013.
Alec Baldwin was the auctioneer, with the assistance of Michael Lynne. Auction lots featured works by Kaws, Annie Leibovitz, Keith Sonnier, and William Wegman, along with a fine wine dining experience curated by Florence Fabricant, food and wine writer for The New York Times.
The Summer Gala was attended by Mary Boone, Alexandra Fairweather, Eric Fischl, Jake Paltrow, Elizabeth Peyton, David Salle, Cindy Sherman, Taryn Simon, Keith Sonnier among others.
The Guild Hall Summer Gala raised approximately $700,000 this year.
