OLIVE REICH

I work in watercolor. I love the challenge of this medium. There is a spontaneity to it, colors that run and take on their own shapes and directions. I work with bright colors and everyday scenes, and like to bring a new vision, clarity and beauty to an old subject.

MIKE ZISSER

Mike paints mainly in acrylics and, occasionally, watercolors. His later paintings are virtually all non-representational, reflecting his interest in abstract design elements, as well as geometric shapes that are visually "complicated" by various pairings of colors.

One of Mike's major interests is the role colors play in the dynamics of composition and their effect on the visual perceptions of the observer, particularly as evidenced in the work of the color theorist Josef Albers and his seminal work "Theories of the Interaction of Color."

Mike attended the Art Students League in New York, and worked with many of the influential teachers of the League--including Charles Hinman and Terence Coyle. He subsequently founded a design and marketing company, which he headed for 30 years.

His work has been in numerous curated exhibitions, including the Parrish Art Museum, the Art Students League, Salmagundi Club, Guild Hall, Mills Pond House, Gallery East, Millennial Gallery, and nationally at many juried shows.

He currently devotes himself full-time to his painting.

For the last several years, Jana has returned her focus and creative energy back to painting. She works primarily in oil on canvas. Jana’s artwork strives to depict glimpses of everyday life. The influence of working in a broadcast medium is evident in the composition and subject matter of her paintings. Her bold brush strokes and saturated colors convey the energy of a bright summer day. The play of light and juxtaposition of colors are important elements in her pieces. Time is suspended in Jana’s work, a moment that captures both an image and a feeling.
