Enjoy free admission to some of the best New York City museums tonight (June 9, 2015), from 6 to 9 p.m. The 37th Annual Museum Mile Festival brings together nine museums along Fifth Avenue from 82nd Street to 105th Street. New York City has officially named this area “Museum Mile” further cementing it as one of the city’s major cultural resources. Partake in the free activities and celebrate museums, art and culture!
The Museum Mile Opening Ceremony will kick off on the steps of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum at 5:45 p.m. Expect to find 23 car-free blocks filled with entertainment including live music, and Art-in-the-Street activities for children all along the Museum Mile. The Museum Mile free admission includes the following museums:
The Africa Center located at 1280 Fifth Avenue at 110th Street.
El Museo Del Barrio located at 1230 Fifth Avenue at 104th Street.
Museum of the City of New York located at 1120 Fifth Avenue at 104th Street.
The Jewish Museum located at 1109 Fifth Avenue between 92nd and 93rd Streets.
Cooper Hewitt, National Design Museum located at 2 East 91st Street off Fifth Avenue.
National Academy Museum and School located at 1083 Fifth Avenue between 89th and 90th Streets.
Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum located at 1071 Fifth Avenue at 88th Street.
Neue Galerie New York located at 1048 Fifth Avenue at 86th Street.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art located at 1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street.
