Art on the East End continues to thrive with exhibition receptions, talks and concerts. LAWRENCE FINE ART - “Sen2 and Reso: Hard Edge” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Both Street artists began their careers spray painting subway trains and city walls. In this exhibition Sen2 will present works exploring pop references, graffiti style and calligraphy. Reso will present works approaching near-geometric abstraction and exploring typography and letter forms. ERIC FIRESTONE GALLERY at THE SURF LODGE - “Jen Stark” has an Opening Reception on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Jen Stark is known for her meticulously assembled, colorful paper constructions and large-scale painted murals. For this exhibition, Stark has installed a 90-square-foot hanging sculpture in the Surf Lodge. This is the inaugural collaboration of Eric Firestone Gallery with the artist residency program at The Surf Lodge. MONTAUK LIBRARY - “Images of America: Montauk” Book Launch and Photo Exhibit Opening takes place on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Labor Day. The Gallery Opening takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. followed by a Slide Presentation & Discussion from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The presentation will be given by Robin Strong, archivist and co-author of Images of America: Montauk. WATERMILL CENTER - “Saturdays @ WMC with the Shinnecock Nation” takes place on Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. The afternoon begins with a tour of the Watermill Center grounds at 1 p.m. followed by a special workshop at 3 p.m. led by Shane Weeks, prominent member of the local Shinnecock Nation and upcoming artist-in-residence at the Watermill Center. The workshop will explore the craft and culture of native dream catchers as well as Shinnecock dance practices. The workshop will be followed by an outdoor reception.
