Film screenings, a writing workshop in response to art, and a last chance to see the art exhibitions at Guild Hall are on this weekend's list of cultural events. There are no art receptions on the East End but select galleries and museums are open for art viewing.

EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS 

GUILD HALL MUSEUM is open this weekend for the final days of “New Additions to the Guild Hall Museum Permanent Collection 2010-2014” and “Mary Ellen Bartley: Leaning Above the Page”. The museum is open Friday and Saturday from 11 am. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Both exhibitions remain on view through Sunday. SAG HARBOR

PARRISH ART MUSEUM

"Writing Workshop on Alan Shields" takes place on Friday at 6 p.m. Led by poet Julie Sheehan, participants will react to the works in the exhibition "Alan Shields: In Motion" to write short pieces in any form (short stories, prose, poetry, folklore or descriptive writing). The workshop is based on ekphrasis, a literary response to a visual work of art, and derived from a writing exercise created by Shields. Reservations suggested. Admission is free for members, children and students and $10 for non-members.

Guided Tour of the Special Exhibitions” takes place on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The docent-led tour features highlights from Steven and William Ladd: Mary Queen of the Universe and Alan Shields: In Motion. The tour is free with museum admission. Reservations suggestedRELATED: ART REVIEW: The Culture of Alan Shields” by Janet Goleas. 

“Guided Tour of the Permanent Collection” takes place on Wednesdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The docent-led tour features highlights from the seven permanent collection galleries. Free with museum admission. Reservations suggested.

WESTHAMPTON

WESTHAMPTON BEACH PERFORMING ARTS CENTER – “Finest in World Cinema Series: Keep On Keepin' On” screens on Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 4 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 4 p.m. The film centers around Jazz legend Clark Terry's friendship with Justin Kauflin, a blind, 23-year-old piano prodigy who suffers from stage fright. Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center is located at 76 Main Street, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978. www.whbpac.org.
