New exhibition receptions at both East End museums command attention this weekend as four major new shows are unveiled between The Parrish and Guild Hall. In addition, there are plenty of new exhibition receptions to keep art lovers hopping. Add in film screenings, book talks and live concerts and the East End offers plenty for the cultural minded. Here's this week's list of where to find art receptions and select cultural events in the Hamptons and on the North Fork.

EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS

ASHAWAGH HALL - “Front & Back” by Gabriele T. Raacke has an Opening Reception on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition continues Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs Fireplace Rd, Springs, NY 11937. www.ashawagh-hall.org.

GUILD HALL

"Screening of the National Theatre Live: SKYLIGHT" on Friday at 8 p.m. Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan appear in the West End production of David Hare's Skylight. Directed by Stephen Daldry. Broadcast live from London's West End by National Theatre Live. Running Time: 2 hours, 45 minutes. General Admission is $18 or $16 for Guild Hall Members.

"The Met: Live in HD - Verdi's "Macbeth" Encore on Saturday at 1 p.m. The production by Adrian Noble stars soprano Anna Netrebko as Lady Macbeth; Željko Lučić’s as Macbeth; Joseph Calleja as Macduff; and René Pape as Banquo. Fabio Luisi conducts. Running Time: 3 hours, 13 minutes. General Admission is $22; $20 for Guild Hall Members; $15 for Students.

OPENING RECEPTION - “New Additions to the Guild Hall Museum Permanent Collection 2010 - 2014” and “Mary Ellen Bartley: Leaning Above the Page” have an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Guild Hall is located at 158 Main Street East Hampton, NY 11937. www.guildhall.org.

HARPER'S BOOKS - "Brad Phillips: Law & Order" has an Opening Reception on Saturday with the artist from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition presents Phillips's text-based art inspired by high and low culture. GREENPORT 

BRECKNOCK HALL at PECONIC LANDING - "Seedtime: An Exploration of the History and Promise of Seeds" takes place on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Peconic Landing Auditorium. MONTAUK

THE MONTAUK LIBRARY - “Moving Pictures: Classical Music in Cartoons” Concert takes place on Sunday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Classical Pianist Alina Kiryayeva will perform a concert inspired by the cartoons produced in the Golden Age of American Animation (1928 - 1960). PECONIC

GALLERY CROSSING - "Andrew Masino: A Recent Series” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The exhibition presents abstract paintings made in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. THE CUDDY RESTAURANT – “The Artist’s Dinner” takes place tonight (Thursday). The evening begins with a cash bar and meet and greet from 5:30 to 6 p.m. followed by a three course dinner. Pat Rogers, publisher of Hamptons Art Hub, will give a presentation at 7 p.m. The Prix Fixe dinner is $26 plus tax and tip. SOUTHAMPTON

ROGERS MEMORIAL LIBRARY – “Jan Morris: The Pleasures of a Tangled Life” takes place this evening (Thursday) at 5:30 p.m. in the Morris Meeting Room. Fred Volkmer will be in conversation with journalist, historan, and travel writer Jan Morris. Reservations appreciated. PARRISH ART MUSEUM

“Salon Series: Pianist Andrew Staupe” takes place on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. The performance is $20, $10 for members. 

"Preview Reception for “Alan Shields: In Motion” and “Steven and William Ladd: Mary Queen of the Universe” takes place on Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. For museum members at the $250 level and above. Reservations required. (A Members Reception for all museum memberships takes place November 1).

“The Artist’s View: Steven and William Ladd Perform ‘Faith’” takes place on Sunday at 11 a.m. The artists will transform one of their works from it’s tower formation into a landscape in a 15-20 minute silent performance. Tickets are $10, free for members, students, and children. Reservations are recommended. The exhibition “Steven and William Ladd: Mary Queen of the Universe” also opens on Sunday and remains on view through Jan. 19, 2015.
