The weekend's almost here...time to start planning your arts and culture travels. Exhibition receptions start tonight in East Hampton, Southampton and Sag Harbor. On Saturday, the Artists & Writers Celebrity Softball Game and an outdoor reading of "The Tempest" takes place in addition to art receptions across the Hamptons. The final weekend of the Springs Invitational unfolds, Open Studios abound on Shelter Island, the Quogue Gallery opens its second exhibition and the North Fork pops with three exhibition opening receptions. CRAZY MONKEY GALLERY - “Bobbie Braun, Anna Franklin, and Diane Marxe” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 31. EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS 

ASHAWAGH HALL - “47th Annual Artists of the Springs Invitational Exhibit” has a Curator’s Tour on Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 17. ASHAWAGH HALL - "Crazy Monkey Gallery at Ashawagh Hall" has an Opening Reception on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition opens on Monday and continues through Friday only. GLENN HOROWITZ BOOKSELLER – “East Hampton Artists & Writers Game Exhibition” has an Opening Reception tonight (Thursday) from 6 to 8 p.m. for its benefit exhibition. On view through Sunday. The exhibition will feature works by both artists and writers plus a sale of select vintage t-shirts from previous games. Twenty percent of sales benefits the charities of the Artists & Writers Game. GUILD HALL - Gallery Talk with exhibiting artist Arlene Slavin takes place on Sunday at 3 p.m. Her translucent garden sculptures are installed outside at Guild Hall. Works from her Intersections painting series are exhibited inside the museum. LTV STUDIO & HERRICK PARK - “Artists & Writers Celebrity Softball Game” takes place on Saturday at Herrick Park. Batting Practice takes place at noon with the game beginning at 2 p.m. A Pre-game party and auction will be held on Friday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at LTV Studio in Wainscott. The suggested donation for admission to the game is $10. The Pre-game party costs $40 in advance/ $50 at the door. Children under 12 are free. The event benefits the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center, East End Hospice, Phoenix House Adolescent Center, and The Retreat. GALLERY CROSSING - “Fine Art of the East End by Deborah Belica and Susan D’Alessio” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 25. Belica will exhibit mixed media and acrylic abstractions that make use of bold colors and distinctive texture. D’Alessio will show paintings inspired by natural elements and landscapes found on the East End of Long Island. SAG HARBOR

BAY STREET SHAKESPEARE INITIATIVE - Outdoor Readings of “THE TEMPEST” will take place in two locations on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the reading starring John Glover will take place at 7 p.m. at Mashashimuet Park in Sag Harbor. This reading is free. On Sunday, the performance will be a VIP benefit at a private waterfront estate beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event includes cocktails followed by the reading at 7 p.m. www.baystreet.org

MONIKA OLKO GALLERY – “The Call of the Sea” by Christine Matthäi and Kia Andrea Pedersen has a Reception tonight (Thursday) from 6 – 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 22. RJD GALLERY - "Meet the Artist: Frank Oriti" takes place on Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oriti's contemporary realism paintings examine the culture of middle class Americans who return to their hometowns and try to adjust. His work has been the subject of solo shows at RJD Gallery and is included as one of eight American realism painters in "GET REAL: New American Paintings" at MOCA in Jacksonville, FL.
